Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

That would be really really kind of you mate, like I say just worry about damaging the cat. I've got a decent straight run of road about 2 miles from where I live, so I'm going to take my coils down there and try and get it sorted in a bit. I'll let you know how I get on, but if I haven't...

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Live in Penistone mate so not a million miles from you. I used to live in High Burton before that.

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Yeah, thats what worries me really but I can't really see an option without a VAGCOM scan. Shame its not idling lumpy. I can provoke it though so shouldn't have to go far before I know if its still doing it.

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Just driven home very steadily - couple of judders and lights. Sat with the engine running a while and no misfires though - also revved and no missfires. Out of interest if I'm not running rough at idle, how do I tell if I've got the right coil?

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Cheers Lads. Ordered a couple from GSF - £56 quid delivered so I'll give it a go when they arrive. Should I be lifting these all the way out to test, or unplugging the clip from the side? Also do I do this with engine running constantly or by stopping/starting each time I check one? Cheers

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

No, they want £46 including vat to scan before and after, then £154 including vat to replace all four of the coil packs, so around £40 per coil including labour. I didn't think that was that bad actually?! But I still think its easier to have a go myself for £25.

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Thats excellent advice - thanks mate. Just heard back from the local Audi Independent - they say its a false economy to do one - better doing them all and then its out of the way, then carry the non faulty ones as spares. They want £200 quid to scan, replace all four of the coil packs then...

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Thanks mate - Looks like the coil is £25 sheets from GSF so its probably worth getting a couple then trial end error. If it still happens I can get it scanned then and I've still got spares for when the eventuality comes!

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Nice one, thanks mate. It must only just be starting as I'm not getting idling issues at the mo, only under acceleration. I expect it'll deteriorate! Is it worth getting it VagCom scanned first in case this isn't the issue?

Engine Management Light and Misfire - 2004 1.8T

Alright chaps - been away for a while enjoying the Quattro when this morning I hit some niggles. Accelerating away from behind a turning car I noticed a light flash on the dash and some judder - at first I thought why the hell is the Traction Control kicking in, but when it did it again I...

Upgrading B6 Avant Stock Sub and Amp

Cheers Andy. Another quick question if I might be so cheeky! If you could get hold of the Bose tupperware amp and sub is that any kind of an upgrade over stock as you see these knocking about cheaply from time to time from breakers or on ebay? Alternatively is the stock amp powerful enough...

Upgrading B6 Avant Stock Sub and Amp

Might be a dumn question but how do you feed the sub at the passenger side if its currently drivers side, dod you just run through the boot?

Upgrading B6 Avant Stock Sub and Amp

Outstanding guide. Thanks so much for taking the time to post that. You DIY it yourself without any prior knowledge or are you in the trade?

Upgrading B6 Avant Stock Sub and Amp

Alright chaps, As per title. I want to keep a stock look to the dash so dont really want to upgrade the HU yet (unless its for RNS-E), but I would like to know whether anyone has upgraded the stock amp and sub in the rear quarter panel with a direct fit replacement? Can it even be done...

I've got the chance of a set from an Rs4 for £50 but need to check a couple of things to see if anyone here knows. From what I can find on German ebay...

    WANTED CLEAR REAR LIGHTS

Hmmm, the Hella aren't totally clear thinking about it but give that clean look without being tacky. They are OEM as well so fit nice.

New Battery - tips for fitting

I had a Halfrauds monkey do mine. Way too much of a ballache of a job to tackle myself in the snow and ice in January. He was enthsiastic if not that competent but he got there. Not a bad price too. Bosch Silver with 5 year guarantee for £114.
