Giving the car a wash today and realised that the petrol cap doesn't lock either so I'm now wondering if it is something to do with the central locking pump?? Doesn't explain why the number plate lights aren't working though????

    Problems opening boot

Hmm, that seems to make sense. I am now have the car and notice the boot doesn't always shut first time of asking so if the mechanism isn't in place then this would explain why... Do you think the boot light is also reliant on that microswitch being in place in order to operate?.... Thanks!!

    cruise module

I have just bought a full unit including slip ring, DIS, cruise and SWCM. The module however is an F, this was removed from a salvage vehicle so it has presumably worked with cruise at some point. I have read much the same as technics has mentioned above about the N or R so my understanding...

Its time for a new clutch...

Yeah the price was for a single mass conversion kit inc. labour £500, however, he started to back pedal a little when I mentioned that I was thinking of getting the proper DMF, as opposed to the SMF conversion kit. The price for the clutch and DMF itself is no different to the SMF conversion on...

Hi, I'm in the same situation at the minute but with a 1.9 tdi, however, I did have a Golf 1.8T a few years ago where I had taken to a garage to have the clutch done and it turned out to be the DM fly aswell. The mechanis was trustworthy btw and not just trying to have me over. I looked down the...
