Well with the right part it fits surprisingly easily.
What wasn't easy was changing the drier. Jees how do they fit those things, do they have highly trained midgets fitting them in?
Right so they offer 5 items for the same year/make/model combo. GSF however offer 1. Looking a little deeper it turns out they changed port sizes after a certain VIN.
ECP are replacing it at my local branch for the correct more expensive one at no extra cost. Pain in the backside and minus a...
So apparently I have a small hole in the condenser, not a massive job so foolishly ordered a part from ECP...
Got everything off new condenser fitted in the bracket holes perfectly and then found the fittings on the ends of the 2 flexis will not fit in the sockets on the condenser.
Each is a...
I already have. I get over it. There's no point shortening my life stressing about what other penarses do. Do all you can to proactively avoid the situation occurring ie by parking as far away as you can. I would almost wager the fact that parking over 2 spaces you are far more likely to get you...
Simple solution, park at the far end of the car park away from all the careless/selfish/idiotic chumps. Works wonders for me.
Regardless of the why it's done, parking across 2 spaces is just as selfish and wanging your door into someone else's car. Come on you lot, leave that sort of antics to...
Ok got the alternator out, brushes look fine. Does anyone know a way to test the voltage regulator? It looks intact but who knows electrically. Bearings sound pretty dry and weren't making a great noise, may just bite the bullet and get one from ECP.
So driving home last night, battery light popped on and went out. Stopped at a set of lights and gave a couple of revs and it came on and stayed on.
Got home, engine off battery at 12.31v, engine running at idle 12.13v so it looks like it's not charging at all.
It was dark and I was tired so...
Bit of an assumption there eh fella. Not everyone is that tight fisted. £215 is definitely taking the **** when you consider what goes into a key and the fabrication of it. It obviously can't be free but a reasonable figure would at least be more palatable. Besides someone has PM'd me an...
The wife just bought a 55 plate Golf. All straight and tidy, only problem there is just the 1 key.
I've searched online but as ever conclusive evidence is difficult to pin down. Apparently on Mk5 Golfs it's not possible to recode another key to a car and the only option is the main stealer. I...
That's weird that Audi got it wrong too. Maybe that explains why GSF and ECP were wrong. TPS were definitely right though, topped the AC up at work and it's nice and chilly. How long would it be from TPS?
So you mean the shiny one in the left of that photo is the one that doesn't fit, as in your photo is upside down?
If so then I had the exact same shenannigans replacing my high pressure air con sensor. ECP and GSF supply the identical wrong part when provided with my reg (same as the shiny one...
Dammit all these S4s! It's getting out of hand. I can't resist much longer, I worked out today the mileage I do I could pay for an LPG conversion on one in almost exactly 2 years so now I'm looking for a reasonable mileage'd S4 Avant to convert... Bah!
TPS came up trumps! Nice one. I went to Euro Car Parts on the way and the one they offered was identical to the GSF one. I just don't get it how from the same part number two such large companies can't supply the correct part!
Anyway the ECON light now goes out and the compressor fires up but...
Well red is obviously the fastest colour, goes without saying. You've mentioned Porsches but why are so many Ferraris red too, it's not just coincidence...
You said about the Legacy? I'm presuming you mean a GTB? I always thought the white ones were the quickest ;)
Yes I noticed on VAGcat it was referred to as 'thrust sensor', random name for what it does, maybe a shady translation?
TPS as in Trade Parts Specialists?
Spent ages trawling online for one tonight, might just bite the bullet and go to Audi...
Just got an air con pressure switch to swap out as it had the code fault on VCDS.
The replacement one is far too long to fit and the threads don't engage before the barrel bottoms on the fitting.
I purchased it from GSF (should have known better!!) and it's the only one they list for my reg...
Got a Bosch one from Ecp. Fitted it and good as new, lights lights gone out too without a re scan which is a bonus. Just need to take the old one back for the surcharge.
Cheers
