Seen a couple of posts about oil pump failure on gear drives. Is this just a few isolated issues as I understand forums can make things look worse than they are.

Used to have a BLB 2.0 as did not know about oil pump problem until seeing it on hear. What do I need to look out for on BRE engines? Think I will buy either 1.9 or 2.0. Depends on price/cost/car.

Whats the most reliable? Used to have a 2.0tdi before and looking to buy a 2006 avant. Was thinking of a 1.9 and remapping as lots of things seem to go wrong with 2.0's or is this just how it appears on forums?

Hello there. Not been on for a while as sold my A4 2.0 TDI a while ago. Was looking at a 2007 2.0 TDI 170 A6. Is there anything to look out for. Do these have injector issues that A4 170's have?

Used to have a 55 plate 2.0 TDI 140. After buying it found out about the oil pump problem. In my 9 month ownership had to replace wheel bearing, EGR cooler, had coolant system flushed as oil in coolant and also poor starting when cold. In the end I traded it in and went back to BMW's. I fancy...

Which pipe have you clamped. Any ideas how much to fix??. This fault is getting on my nerves. My car has no faults logged.

I am having problems with my car starting. I have noticed that when I turn off engine I can hear a sqeulshy click sound coming from EGR cooler area. Is this normal?

No problems with running other than for a few seconds after cold start. No faults stored.

Car is not driven that gentle anyway.

My car seems to misfire for a couple of seconds after being started when stood overnight. Is the likely to be either temp sensor or glow plugs or something else?? Car runs fine after started and no warning lights. I disconnected sensor the other morning and it fired up no problem.

My friend is looking at 2 convertibles. One is a 2WD 3.0 petrol with 43k & the other is a 2WD 2.5TDI with 73k. Both are manual. Is there anything to look out for on either?? Not sure if I should be asking this on B6 section??
