New price list on Audi UK website

Who said anything about testing ever combination? Options = additional weight = additional fuel consumption. I am sure manufacturers can estimate the impact. From the A5 brochure: Which is the better way of doing it, so you are assured at most the rating quoted. Looking back at the...

New price list on Audi UK website

Just remembered, that your options choices may affect the co2 rating, as they add weight. Only marginally, but if the standard model is only just under the limit, it could be significant. I think my sister's A4 was officially 149 but it says 151 on the sticker.

New price list on Audi UK website

This last bit from Audi is precisely what I firmly believe you can no longer do. As someone pointed out, the accelerations used in the test are so gentle that manufacturers are able to get larger engined (and heavier) cars to perform, if not as frugally, then almost as frugally as smaller...

New price list on Audi UK website

The engines are not mounted in cars when tested? I thought the emissions and fuel consumption tests were part of the same test done on a rolling road - I presume simulating air and tyre resistence. Otherwise, no wonder official figures are worth nought.

    A3 real fuel consumption

Glad to see the ASA getting involved. I have a huge bee in my bonnet about the official test. I've read the official testing schedule and no one on this planet drives like that. Accelerating from 0-70kph over 40 secs and 3 gear changes (each gear change taking 2 secs). Lots of gentle...

    188mpg A3 with 35g/km CO2

True - I wonder what the battery cost is per mile! Having a look around the net, car manufacturers provide a decent warranty period (8-10 years, 100-150k miles), and the batteries don't seem to cost all that much (£3-5k). So less than 5p per mile, if you are unlucky enough for it to need...

    188mpg A3 with 35g/km CO2

Sounds interesting. But 188mpg is all well and good. What about the cost of electricity? It never seems to be mentioned. It is a plug-in hybrid after all. Is the 188mpg calculated over the range of a full tank of fuel, or just over the standard (and I believe considerably manipulatable) EU...

    Xenons and driving abroad

If they are GPS-adjusted, I am sure Audi would be shouting about it. I wonder whether they no longer follow the traditional light pattern, but instead have an even 'reach' across both lights and so no adjustment at all is needed. That would make for better lighting on the continent (not having...

    Xenons and driving abroad

It's called being facetious - i.e. not to be taken seriously. :rolls-eyes: My lights are and have always been properly set. As pointed out, modern car lights are far brighter than they used to, and, in my opinion, that they need to be. 10 or so years ago, on a single carriage way, you had a...

    Xenons and driving abroad

The MMI on my a5 allows for in-car adjustment. Although, annoyingly, it drops both headlights to the extent that I feel is dangerous. The left headlight is the only one that needs lowering, but I guess they cannot work independently. That's vdt for you. Who gives a monkey's about dazzling on...

Does the new A3 get real quattro

Thanks. I doubt it as well - and it is not the first time Audi pubs material has been wrong. I agree, torsen, in my experience, is a thirsty system - both in power and fuel. However, I hate haldex - at least the incarnation that was in my Mk2 TT. It just seemed to act as a on-off switch when it...

Does the new A3 get real quattro

The Audi UK website says: "In 1980, the Audi quattro was the first permanent four-wheel drive production car. So while the technology is thoroughly tried and tested, it has also been enhanced and evolved ever since it was first introduced and can now be experienced with the new Audi A3...

    Wheels - refurbishment

240 for the filler / primer initially and then down to 1200 - using very gentle pressure by the end.

    Wheels - refurbishment

If you can arrange it, sure. If you search for alloy wheel postage costs there seems to be a good couple of alloy wheel couriers. About £15 for a wheel, it seems.

    Wheels - refurbishment

I used this stuff (or something similar): Halfords | Loctite Repair Express Power Putty It is in two parts that you kneed together and apply. Very hard once set (10-15 minutes), so don't put too much on as it will take some time to work down again. I used a Dremel and then wet and dry...

    Wheels - refurbishment

During A3 ownership some years ago I managed to run over a kerb and dent the rim of two wheels. I replaced them, but gave refurbishment a try myself. They've been sitting in my shed for the last 6 years - one finished, and the other just needs a coat of paint. I haven't the heart to throw...

    a5 3.0 tdi idle speed?

About 650 here as well. It does occasionally start out at 900 now that it is getting cold, and drops down to 650 after a minute or so.

    Oil Leak on TDi 130

My dealer said it's all fine. The valve is pretty clean, and oil coming out is quite normal. Only thing is, it only started doing it 18 months ago. I am sure the dealer would have replace it if there was a hint of an issue - they are there to make money, after all.

a4 tdi PD Engine...how true is this??

I believe you do it to check sump pressure - you are supposed to blip the throttle as well (a bit messy). I remeber by Dad saying something about it yonks ago. Now, I can't remember whether having oil forced out is good or bad...

    cam belt change...... how much?

Similar for my A4 130 (at an Audi dealer) - £355 for the cambelt, pretensioner, water pump and some other belt(?). Shame I forgot it was due for a new belt 5k miles ago, when I had the service.
