changing the chains is a big job though about £3k because engine has to be removed

yesterday i brought an a4 avant 3.0 v6 tdi 2005 auto (privately) drives sweet as a nut imo sounds fine but when ticking over when warm it develops a smoking from the exhaust which is white/bluey colour a when you drive it away it seems to clear mechanic says its injectors or rocker cover...

there was a post on this the other week i think the 233 has diesel particulate filter and proberbley mapped for more power but no mechanical difference

just spoke to an independant who said quattro boxes are in general reliable its the multitronics which can be more troublesome he did say though the timing chains can snap listen out for it!!

Great that explains it a bit better it is more the multitronic boxes that have the most probs then isn't it? Are the quattro boxes a bit stronger do you know would I have any bother if it was remapped for towing?

hi all thinking of buying an 2005 audi a4 avant 3.0 tdi v6 quattro with a multitronic gearbox read some nasty reviews on the gearbox are they realy that bad did they improove them on the b7 model? (i think its a multitronic just an auto hasnt got the paddles on steering wheel i dont think) done...

hi james yes i have the original order sheet and these are on there as an upgrade they only put them on the 1.8t s line and newer b7 models never seen them as standard on 1.9 tdi's but these was asked for on the order sheet cant remember exact price but they was over £1200 this is what i say as...

cheers simon and funkyfin i would say around 7k is a fair price you will get new shapes for 7k but there basic models and for me quattro is a must due to mrs having horses and when it snows she has to get to them no matter what so as simon says its who wants it and so on,
