My battery went flat again yesterday, which is probably the fourth time in the past couple of years. I have the following electrical issues:
- Constant drain of about 0.75 amps when the car is off and locked.
- Reverse parking sensors only activate intermittently.
Does anyone know what the...
Hi all,
The glovebox in my 2004 A3 8P 3 door drops down sharply when you operate the open handle. Is it possible to replace just the gas strut rather than the entire glovebox unit and if so does anyone know the part number?
Cheers,
Jimbo
That's what did it in the first place - the glovebox light, good reminder. I locked the car with the alarm off but it had been sat there with the glovebox open for a couple of days because I wanted to show potential thieves that it was empty.
Is VCDS a diagnostics tool? Does it cost an arm...
hi all,
Some kind soul smashed the passenger side window of my A3 in October and stole...nothing at all. I had Autoglass replace the window and then the AA jump start it because the battery had gone flat because the alarm or light or something had drained it over the couple of days of not...
That's very reassuring to hear. As the car gets older and gains more miles i'm less keen to spend money on it. That said, it's a brilliant car and I'd like to keep it until it becomes uneconomical to repair.
How did you discover that the turbo needed replacing? Was it drinking/leaking a lot of oil? Good to know that a recon and piping can be had at 50% the cost!
My car has 62'000 on the clock and it just went to Audi because it started making an odd noise at idle. They investigated and found that it was the alternator pulley, which they changed and (swallow) £350 later the noise is no more and my car is running beautifully again.
However, Audi put...
Very interesting. Changing the alternator pulley fixed the problem. Audi charged £240.00 for the investigation of where the noise was coming from. Doesn't this seem a bit much if the alternator isn't buried deep in the bowels of the engine compartment?
THanks for the reply. Audi phoned back a while ago to say they now think that it's a problem with the alternator. Is there a mechanism that engages the alternator only when the car is moving? I thought it was linked to the engine so that it was running when the engine is running? I suppose...
Hi everyone,
I dropped my car at Audi this morning because for about a week it's been making a nasty noise at idle, which goes away once I start moving. They have just come back to me and told me that they want to change the cam belt and that will 'probably' fix the problem. Can a dodgy cam...
This is probably a seriously dumb question but I've gone from the Sport's standard 17" Star wheels to 18"s with the following tires:
235/40 R18 95Y
225/40 R18 92Y
Do I still use the tire pressures in the manual or do they now need to be different because of the new tires/wheels...
