subby - no worries, it's totally on point as I was advised by one garage they always do what you have said - my VAG indie said ARB's needed too....they quoted £230 all in parts labour and VAT
Can anyone explain to me (in very basic language) why you need to change the ARB's if the linkages are split? Why doesn't just changing the split collars sort the issue?

do it - having to have my cambelt off to replace a waterpump that wasn't done by the last owner when the cambelt was done....3.5 hours labour for a £30 part to be fixed!

You're quite right....and there's three types of misrep - 1. fraudulent, 2. negligent, and a third....which I forget the name of but think it's honest. The first two have similar consequences and remedies......however..as you'll find when you qualify...the real world and case...
