Hey guys, My a3 TDI 1.9 diesel sportback has been making odd noises for atleast a year now. The 'loose, Grundy' noise is apparently t when in neutral, gets worse when depress clutch and totally disappears with clutch fully down. If release I neutral it makes same noise on the way back up...

Update. I took boot away from pillar and door and spliced an 18awg bit of wire in. Wrapped it up and fitted boot back together. All is well now! Tips for anyone in future...if you take the boot away from the door the best thing to do in order to get it back on properly (avoiding water ingress)...

Also, has any one got a top tip to get that connector off?

Yeah gunna do it on Friday. I'm going to order some wire just in case there's not enough to splice. What gauge wire do you think?

Just a quick update. I took apart the loom to find wires twisted and snapped!!! Have no idea how it happened but I'm going to be taking it out and inline splicing 2 of them. Hoping that sorts the issues! See pic

Yeah autolatry that's what's so weird. I expected the faults to be apparent on both side as I presumed they are on the same circuit?

Symptoms are constant not intermittent though? Do you mean the rubber boot between door and pillar?
