Thanks Lads, the cars already chipped by AMD. The dealership we took it to said they thought the faut may have arisen due to the 'Chipping' of the ECU.. I emailed them yesterday..............i'll let you know if i get any reply! Has anybody on this board done this? As i'd like to PM them...

Right following on from this thread http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=15705 The missus is well & truly peeved with it all and just wants shot of it............ BUT I feel its probably one of the mot reliable car we've EVER owned, so am tempted to try and sort this mess...

Replaced the reader already (the part in the ign barrel?)beginning of the year, but soon as the cold front comes in........... Starts all over again. Can the immobiliser be removed completely form the car? Then fit a cat 1.....

We're havng the same problems at the moment, only happens on cold days / nights. :( Been to Audi with it & they've run tests etc but faut finding came back clean, we then replace the whole Ign barrel immobiliser and it still did it. Well that was back in the spring of this year, but its...

Any more info on that fella?? I was told you could replace the gearbox bushes etc (but this THINKS he's a mechanic! :? ) but i'm not so sure................ Just one of them annoying problems with the missus car, which is a shame as its the ONLY thing that lets the drive down for me.

Can anybody tell me if you can do anything to tighten up the gear changing on a 97 A3 1.8TS please. Starting to feel like a Ford gearbox lately!

Well had the car up at a mate's Stealership today, its deffo the ingnition barrel reader! £208 all in.............Thats with discount, and no charge for the fault finding (Audi usually charge over 40 notes just to check!Eeek ). Not whats needed this close to xmas to be honest, but can't...

Good afternoon, The missus has been having trouble with her A3, it starts then dies instantly.........A yellow circle on the dash blinks(car / key sign). I take it this is some sort of immobiliser fault. you have to mess agound with the key in the barrel for a few minutes then it will start...
