It really doesn't matter if it is on top or the bottom. The quickest way to adjust it is to unbolt the 18 mm bolt holding the lower control arm to the wheel bearing housing anyway.
My H&R has it on the top, and it is much quicker to adjust with the spring and adjuster out, holding it in your hand.

I didn't. But you need coil spring compressors that are around 15-20 mm shorter than the norm. I had issues getting the coils off on the normal spring compressor. Got one that was 20 mm shorter and it worked a treat

As for heat spots, other forums suggest you fit the Phaeton heat sheild bits to direct more air to the discs. This seems to solve the overheating issues.
