I did a full Focal 165 replacement with a JL w6v3 6.5 mini-sub upgrade for the boot. Sounds amazing, and there's plenty of power in the stock amps (headunit and boot) to cleanly drive the set.
One thing to note - because the Focals sound so good, you'll instantly note how muddy the stocks in...
The TT-S seats should be a nice swap (just some modification to the harness needed). I'm thinking of doing the same, but am having a heck of a time sourcing a pair in North America...
Thanks Smirky - in the market for replacements so will keep those in mind. Don't have an issue with cold weather, but options with excellent dry "hook up" and good-to-excellent wet traction would go top of the list.
I know they're a different category but not happy at all with the initial grip on my Pilot Sport A/S 3s. Easily overpowered (causing wheelspin), and noticeable less traction off the line than the A/S Pirelli's I had on before. Only upside has been the fair-to-good hydroplaning resistance.
From what I've read, the stock 6.5 "sub" (in the non-Bose system) is a 2x2 ohm dual-voice driver. Could anyone please confirm if it's wired to be running at 4 ohm or 1 ohm?
Much appreciated.
'06 Sportback - crept past 189K (driven across Canada a few times ...).
Secrets to longevity: preventative maintenance, and lost of mods (so almost everything ends up being new again...!)
Hi Ash, am just about to source a set of 8V seats and wanted to confirm what type of wiring mods were needed for the seats and airbags - new looms and internals run or just a splice at plugs?
Resurrecting this ancient thread...!
Is there anyone who would be able to source / resell modded sets? And just wondering if anyone with stock bixenons has attempted this mod? IMO, of all the headlight mods for the 8P, this blows every aftermarket option out of the water in terms of looks and...
I'm looking to get this done as well (swapping out my non-sport heated seats to TT MK2s). Closest DIY I've found is this Baz:
