S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

I think it's a long shot. Ford don't really have any EU market RWD platforms.... It'll probably be some Haldex variant with a fancy electronic diff if they ever bother.

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

Rumours are that they're not even bothering with a Fiesta ST.... :( Which leaves the 'hottest' model as the Mountune'd 140bhp. Very poor.

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

I don't disagree with what you're saying, and for what it's worth, whilst I'd love an RS, I'd love it even more if they'd just toned down the styling... From what we're hearing on the ST side of things, the mk2 RS is MUCH more sorted than the ST and the mk1 RS, and can easily handle the power...

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

I'd say it would depend on the b-roads. Reasonably wide, but still twisty, I'd put all my money on the GT-R Narrow and twisty...... that GT-R is BIG car.... it certainly wouldn't be all my money... :D

    Driven one already then?

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

LOL, likewise the ring comment wasn't aimed at you (or really anyone in particular). I think the point is that cars like the GT-R get hyped up as the 'last word' in speed, and a lot of that comes from their lap-times, be it on the top-gear test track, the ring or wherever. And, as I'm sure...

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

That if you're looking to go fast from point to point on twisty narrow UK roads, buying a car based on it's 'ring time, isn't necessarily your best guide....

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

Yeah but the point they're trying to make is a fair one IMHO. On real roads, how much performance can you actually put down? Sure, on a dual-carriageway, you can always use more power, but personally I can't think of anything more boring than booting it down a stretch of straight road. That's...

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm trading down at the end of summer, I'd definitely be tempted :(

S3 vs new Ford Focus RS?

I know it's just going to get shouted down as yet another biased review, but.... http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallpapers/Videos.aspx?AR=239816&CT=V And yes, in my totally uninformed opinion (only driven my ST, not the RS, S3 or GT-R natch), I'm sure 4WD does have its place, especially on wet...

Well I haven't managed to start work yet.... :D

focus st vs s3 anyone else raced one?!!

:D Yeah, it can certainly suffer in the heat. Especially if you remap but don't uprate the induction. I've not got much track experience, but I've done Bedford and I'd say it was a great accesible track with plenty of run off for those 'ooops' moments.

focus st vs s3 anyone else raced one?!!

With a CAIS and an uprated I/C, I can't say I've ever had a problem with heat-soak. Either way, I'd have thought there would be a nice enough range of performance from unmodded ST up to 450bhp S3 that it would still be fun. My Vredesteins are getting close to the wear indicators and they're...

Very gentlemanly! In the interests of inter-forum friendliness, now that a few of you have focusstoc.com accounts, don't be strangers! If you ever fancy a day at the drag strip / track / etc., let us know. We're a friendly bunch and don't need much of an excuse to bowl up to someone else's...

I think we might be talking in circles here, and I'm no lawyer, so I'm gonna keep my mouth shut on this now.

focus st vs s3 anyone else raced one?!!

Lol, hi! It is a nice engine, little heavy, but a lovely fruity note to it. At the risk of being a creep, I've always been a fan of the S3 as well. I might well have ended up with one had I bothered to test drive anything other than the ST! (I'm a lazy lazy man)

focus st vs s3 anyone else raced one?!!

Sorry if I've misunderstood, but your previous post seemed to imply that he got sent to prison only because he'd hurt someone. I was just trying to point out that as far as I know, it doesn't matter whether you hurt anyone or not, and as far as the OP goes, he might find that information...

focus st vs s3 anyone else raced one?!!

I always thought it didn't matter whether someone got hurt or not. If you were seen to be 'racing', you're boned. I found this, but I'm not sure if it's still current: http://www.opsi.gov.uk/ACTS/acts1988/Ukpga_19880052_en_2.htm Section 12 Motor racing on public ways (1) A person who...
