Evening all, I've been offered a complete grill so I can have a play at making an rs4 style version. The part number is 8p4 853651. Can anyone confirm if this if from the facelift or the "older" single grill model as mine is a 57 plate. :icon_thumright:

:) Thanks for the offer but a) I'm undecided on the matt effect so might still keep the gloss black and b) I have already told a guy at work he can have it when I change the car. Only wanted a part number so I could see if the chrome surround was cheaper than the black (that was £55 from memory)

Hi all, I have the gloss black surround on my grill and I'm toying with the idea of repainting a standard chrome one to match my S3 mirrors. Does anyone have the part number for the chrome surround? I don't have my original one as it was damaged when changing to the black one :sadlike:

Thats exactly what I did. The gear lever surround was easy, but the ashtray a little more challenging. As long as you have a hair dryer, a sharp scalpel and some patience you should be ok. :cool: I did try and search for my old post but I think the old threads have been archived :sorry:

I wrapped mine with carbon fibre effect vinyl. As long as you warm it up before applying it, it will go round all of the corners without any issues. I did post some pics ages ago, will see if I can find the thread.

Very nice. I was tempted to spray mine but as it's a company car thought better of it. At least I can just peel this off when I have to give it back. :whistle2:

I bought the sheet from Halfords - Foliatec Interior Vinyl. £30. All I did was pop the trim off, the door pieces just pop off along with the gearlever surround. The ashtray pulls out once you undo a couple of screws. Its was then just a case of cleaning the old trim to remove any grease...

Thanks. I have toyed with the idea of painting but I can't work out how the ashtray comes out. Plus its a company car so if I use the stick on stuff I can revert back to normal when I give it back (still got the chrome grill and black mirror housings).

You've confirmed what I was thinking.... :thumbsup: I can't see how they can provide such a performance boost for so little money when superchips are 10x that!! Can't see it doing the ECU much good either. Will leave well alone :no:

Just found this on ebay and they claim it will increase my 140 TDI to 170 bhp and for under £30!! :think: I'm a little sceptical and was wondering if anyone had any experience of using these little black boxes...

Fantastic, thanks for the advice. I take it there's no need to reapply the polish until it's been clayed again? Once I run out of megs I will be getting some blackfire to compare the difference.

Spent the day cleaning the car (phantom black a3). In short the paintwork was washed, clayed using meguiars clay kit, megs deep crystal polish, then megs tech wax to finish. I have some megs ultimate quik detailer for between waxes but when should I repeat the polish/wax process? Is it a once...
