Finally got round to fitting the new box and it's a perfect fit, the problem is the old linkage jams on the tunnel so I can't change gear. Does anyone know if the 1.9tdi gear linkage is different to the 1.8t?

It's still a standard 190 atm, not even a remap (yet). I've done 140k now and after reading a load of other forums it seems that this isn't an uncommon fault with the 18.t VAG. The heat from the turbo just cooks the harness. Just pop the rubber off one of yours and see if you have any signs of...
Yeah I looked at them but I think they're the standard coil packs painted red, I'll still need to replace them in 6 months ;)
The ECS ones are made by Hitachi (which I'm told by a mate are stronger than the standard VAG ones, although he's never used them (which is why I wondered if anyone here...
I've been digging around and found that the heat from the turbo can cause the coilpack harness to crack so I'm thinking of ordering these:
1) Coil Pack Wiring Harness Replacement
2) ECS Coil Pack Ignition Solution - Stage I
Have any ASN members used them?
I'm bored of my VAG coil...
Hello,
Does anyone near Aylesbury or Newbury have VAGCOM? My engine light came on this morning and I've lost boost. It was a little rough at idle this morning but seemed fine (apart from the lack of boost) about an hour in to my drive the light came on.

As long as it's in gear and moving then mine always makes a noise, the only times it doesn't make a noise is when I put my foot on the clutch or the accelerator, if I take the car out of gear as I'm driving the noise stops so I don't think it brakes or wheel bearings etc... I've just ordered...
I think I've got the same problem, mines a whining noise and the higher the revs the higher the pitch of the whine. Does yours stop when you put your foot on the clutch? or just when you press the accelerator? I was thinking it's either the gearbox low on oil (which I'll check once I know what...
The tyre's are 225/40's but I'll need to check the offset, the wheels are off the car now as I've cracked one. I'll get it repaired and use it as a spare but I'm still looking for a replacement. Here's a better tyre picture as it shows a subtle strech:
Here's some pics of my 18" MTM reps:

With new Coilovers:
(sorry no decent pics yet)
I got them off a VW so I used H&R PCD adapters which help with the poke:
Sorry for the delay Paul, I missed this ;)
It's easy, just pop the gaiter/base up and lift it over the knob, you'll then see a clip which holds the gaiter to the knob, remove it and the knob pops off.
Just another way of charging my satnav/ipod or phone ;)
