Some of you may remember me as the bloke with the grey A4, RS6 grill, 19" Kahns, tints and more LEDs than you can throw a stick at. I'm also renowned for illegal numberplates and a few BRD engine problems.
These have included 2 failed injectors, flywheel, clutch, oil pump balance shaft and...
Here's a couple of versions I've tried over the years...... http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/audi-s4-a4-a4-cab-b7-chassis/125115-those-thinking-drls-fog-grill-mods-heres-some-i-tried-earlier.html
I'm currently using this 'OEM style' Hella Dayline lamps - custom fitted into my fog surrounds.
Just linking to this thread and saw the outstanding question! Sorry!
They're just 5mm std LEDs hooked up to individual resistors (for 12v) - mounted into the rear of 5mm perspex - which was then slotted into 5mm slots which I cut into the fog surround horizontals.
It's a bit more complicated...
You can legally make short plates on your reg - the legality is all about letter size and spacing...not plate size.
I've 'downscaled' my plates, they're both currently 410mm x 90mm (standard is 510mm x 110mm).......shows off the grill nicely.
Welcome to the RS6 grill club! :applaus:
Looks good, althought I would put a smaller plate on the front to accentuate the grill........what am I walking about, I did!!!
Xenon is just a gas, that is often used in halogen bulbs..... So i presume you mean HID bulbs?
These lamps will be designed to use a halogen lamp in the dipped beam, and a separate lamp in the 'inner' headlight - likely to be the same halogen figment as a standard oem (non HID) headlight...
Some time ago my green side light bit didnt illuminate.... Audi replaced the whole switch, under warranty í ½í±.
Seems to me that the led has failed í ½í¸³
Personally I've used 10w resistors when replacing sidelight bulbs (one per bulb), 25w resistors for DRLs (21w bulbs - one per bulb) - just one of these for a pair of numberplate lamps - and 50w resistors for H11 fogs (one per bulb). All from eBay 'load resistor' search.
Well.....
10 hours labour later, 'just' an oil pump (no turbo or balance shaft) and a £1676 bill from my local independant VAG specialist - she seems to be fighting fit again!
I had a bit of a side swipe at Audi Uk about on Twitter and as a result was contacted by them. This allowed me to...
Yeah seen that - but the vast majority of issues on there relate to the BLB engine......mine's the BRD.
Either way I'll keep you posted as the garage continue to investigate the issue.
