the garage disconnected the 1 fan only. the other fan still comes on when then engine warms up.

So I got the car back... wiring was traced back to the ECU and all seems fine. looks like it's a faulty Module. the fault is with the smaller fan thats on the drivers side. for now the fan has been disconnected until i can source a new fan module. dealers want £500. am i ok to drive the car...

bit of an update. Went to see the mechanic to have a look at my car. he confirmed he has repaired many of these in the past, some customers have gone to him even after replacing the fans with the same issue. So it's booked in for next weekend. hopefully when i get it back it will be all fixed.

The driver side fan is the one that runs constantly. Car has done 131k now. Just took it to a friend of mine who has VCDS and he said it seems to have a short in the wiring somewhere. he has the same issue with his S5. Will take it to someone to have it re-wired and hopefully this will fix the...

it's just every time i drive. even when the ignition is just left on without being started they kick in.

I bit the bullet and went for the 2.7 TDI V6. so far i'm very impressed with the comfort and drive. MPG seems a little low but i'm hoping that improves after i give it a service. The engine management light came on before i collected it and the dealer had it cleared saying it's something to do...

there seems to be a lot of coding required. is that needed? In my VW all i had to do was go into a module and flick a switch from OFF to ON.

Nope. I don't have confidence in the car so i've just parked it up and i'm using the BMW for now. i'm thinking to px it for something else. maybe A4 avant B8 or 3 series touring.
