    What have you done today?

Stargate update.... I finished the stargate project in the summer last year.... All works pretty well but I do need to do some fettling on the glyph ring as its not as smooth as I would like... I have since done a fair few other projects although at this time not really finished many as...

    Anyone running catcams 3658?

People use NA cams as std 1.8t cams are restrictive above 450hp or so and are a cheap way to get the engine over 500hp wit the typical G25-660 size of turbo VVT on big turbos is generally a good idea as it improves spool by around 500-1000rpm... you bring it in around 1500/2000 rpm and switch...

    Advice

Mechanically there is not much difference between tranverse 1.8t engines... swapping the AMK engine to an AGU in principle would not effect power assuming you are using the S3's K04 turbo etc... The main differences between AMK/AGU is AGU has a large port head and no VVT... you would need to...

    A3 8L '03 Engine and Transmission Swap

You won't find a thread on here detailing that I am afraid as generally no one does it... The differences extend beyond just the engine as brakes/suspension etc all need changing... The easiest way is to simply buy a 1.8t A3 and mod that... if you are insistent on swapping it out then the next...

    APG head on AMK block?!

gearbox side of the head... there will be an electrical connector plugged into the chain tensioner if it has VVT As this was already done prior to your ownership my main concern would be if they swapped over the valves and cams as these in this case are specific to the turbo/vvt engines... NA...

    My minor modding thread

Its a combination of things tbh... the TCU itself is about at its max clamp pressure without patching the map with custom code to increase that... the box itself was on 80k when I got it and no telling what sort of life the clutch pack has had... there are ways you can use VCDS to determine wear...

    My minor modding thread

Not a lot to report but I have been doing a little beta testing for a new IECU firmware that addresses specific issues to do with the Cxx TCU my gearbox has... being the first iteration and the dumbest of the TCU's getting things like rev matching to work appears to be different to the later...

Front Seat Tilt Lever - 3D Printed?

Depends on the material used and the orientation of the print... Normal PLA is not the toughest material and possibly not the best for automotive parts... Nylon or ABS are better materials but generally need a higher end printer to print with (higher hot end temps and enclosures etc)... For...

    APG head on AMK block?!

The 20v head castings are all essentially the same... differences in castings are SAI port or not and small/large port and on some early heads (AEB for example) the cam tensioner mount point sticks out further requiring machining You would be ill advised to use the head as a straight swap but...

Lost Dash Engine Water Temp , Meter = 0 when HOT

the temp sensor is a dual sensor setup so one for the ECU and one for the dash... not unusual for one or other to fail and for the ecu to see a different temp to what you see on dash You can check this in vcds but its a common enough fault and a cheap enough sensor to replace <tuffty/>

    Air Con - Receiver Dryer

I changed mine when I changed the pump... as why not... other than that its never been changed that I know of in the time I have owned the car... my A2 is still on its original... 2-3yrs seems excessive seeing as you need to drain the system down each time to change it and its not in the...

    HESITATION BETWEEN GEARS

Fix the EGT sensor issue as this will be causing the ECU to overfuel the engine and suspect is leading to the symptoms you are describing <tuffty/>

    My minor modding thread

Been a while I know but been busy with work and nothing much to report on the car until now... I had noticed the rear brake lines were looking a little past their sell by date so had bought up the stuff to sort the front to rear hardlines and flexi's... I had already replaced the lines to the...

Header Tank level with Silicone pipes , settles LOW ?

Assuming you had lost a bit of coolant while changing the hoses sounds more like that its finally bled out most of the air introduced and the level has dropped accordingly... normally takes a little while for it all to bleed through after dropping coolant... Probably just needs topping up...

    My minor modding thread

I believe EDL is still active after using 2048 to code out ESP... there are further 'codes' (more a bitwise calculation) to disable EDL too but I left mine on.... I think... been a while :) <tuffty/>

    Indicator Lights stopped flashing

This is the 8L (1996-2003) A3 section dude... I would suggest posting in the 8V section for your car https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/forums/a3-s3-8v-chassis.244/ <tuffty/>

VCDS in the ABS module... only works on MK20 ABS modules iirc... don't remember the exact value but its either subtract 2048 or 1024 from the value to remove ESP... VCDS "should" pop up available values <tuffty/>

Hi mate... no... not worked it out as yet... changing the CAN protocol for the clocks gets rid of it but unsure of the knock on... Brian suggested it so maybe worth pinging him <tuffty/>

    1.8T Stroker Question

I would suggest 82mm stroker pistons purely to ensure when you have the bores machined it will remove any ovality that has potentially occurred over time... These are the ones Bill sells https://badger5.co.uk/pistons/cp-carillo-forged-pistons-9-5-1-82mm-92-8mm-tfsi-sc7617 These are the same...
