A) Either should work, the second Dynamic Sounds one would use steering wheel controls if you had them.
B) You might need extractor pins with the first one
C) No, they shouldn't interfere with the sound path
2) Not that I'm aware of, Pioneer seem to do units in 1 or 2 DIN sizes almost at random...
As no-one else has pitched in I'll give my amateur opinion. I think these stereos differ from traditional stereos in that they use the car's CAN BUS to send signals to the stereo to turn off and on, that's what CAN H[igh] and CAN L[ow] are.
I've attached an old doc showing the relationship...
I've not parted with my 8P A3 yet, although been keeping an eye on a possible replacement (in case something expensive goes) for a while.
If you're after a hybrid I'd go for the newer ones with 50 miles nominal range rather than the 30 of the last crop. Not sure what's available in the US but...
My DIY mechanic days were long over before I bought my A3 but I can tell you it's recommended to change the water pump when you do the timing belt, at least on the 2.0 TFSI.
Do you have steering wheel controls you want to use, that will partly determine what loom you need I think.
The unit you've chosen doesn't have DAB, I had a Pioneer AVH-Z9200DAB fitted but that is a fair bit more expensive and you'll need a DAB aerial.

Works well with wireless carplay.
If you've only got a single DIN slot maybe one of these would be easier:

The leather's split on my driver's seat side section and I could do with a replacement, probably with the passenger seat too. 8P, 5 door, not heated, full Vienna leather, black. Unless someone can come up with one on here is ebay my best bet?
I got these over two years ago and they only errored once briefly a couple of weeks ago at the start of the cold snap:

Found it. My issue was fixed by a new engine breather valve:
A06F 129 101 R - Valve
A06F 103 483 E - 282511/gasket
Note my car is non quattro and DSG but is the 2.0 TFSi.
I had something that may be similar, turned out to be some sort of valve in the engine, relatively easy for an Audi dealer to fix. I'll try and dig out the repair note later. Was a nightmare for my original non Audi specialist to diagnose, they spent £600 of my money to tell me it looked like a...
