    Have done exactly this and the repairs still topped £6k :( car is purchasable at around £2200 but wouldnt be same car again... I am gutted. Couldn't afford to lose this car. To get anything remotely similar we had to spend £2k more but have gone a year and a half newer. Still not happy...

    I was once told something similar but I was told if any tyres needed changing, then all 4 would need to be done cos it was a 4WD. Didn't mention gearbox, although it's probably what he meant lol. I mentioned this to someone else and they dismissed this so I'm non the wiser... I don't know...
