That will be the electrical connector onto the reverse light switch on the gearbox, exactly the same happened to mine. Looked like water had got onto the connection and the wires went green and corroded through. Costs about £5 and takes 10 minutes to do.

It's A brand new bosch MAF on there, only been on a couple of days

It just goes completly gutless, could probably be done off the lights by a lawnmower, then all of a sudden the power is back. Then again at some point when it feels like it it goes again and on and on

what an absolutly ridiculous place that switch is, took me ages to get to it and once I got there it wasn't the switch, it was the wires that go into the connector, one of them has broken so need to get a new connector and rejoin the wires to it.

I've noticed the last couple of days that when i put the car in reverse the reverse lights were flickering and going on and off, and last night i didnt have any at all. The bulbs are fine so was thinking the problem is the reverse light switch itself. Anyone had to change this before, if so is...

I've got the noisiest squeakiest brakes ever heard on a car, there is plenty of meat left on the disks and pads and they stop me perfectly well but I think i've got to change them or i'll have to start wearing ear defenders. Anyone got any suggestions on some new (quiet) disks and pads

All sorted, the MAF was ******** so that was replaced and the coil pack the AA man put in was also faulty so that was also replaced, goes alright again now. I shall be ringing the AA tomorow to see if I can get my money back on the coil pack.

It's gone to the garage now, so i'll have to wait and see what they come up with

Couldn't get anyone with vagcom round so off to a VW/Audi specialist in the morning to hopefully be sorted. Was wondering if having it remapped may have caused these problems

Would having a dodgy coil pack still cause the emission light to be on?

Someone told me that a dodgy temp sensor could also cause the light to come on. It idles fine but when you drive it and go to put some power down its just not there

Wow, thanks someone replied. The emission control warning light is on all the time now, and the ESP ligh is on from start up and wont switch off, so don't want to drive it, trying to get a mate round with vagcom or off to the garage it goes

Changed the plugs but mde no difference, noticed that the emission control warning symbol appears, flashes a few times then goes but still nothing. Could my cat be ******** or a sensor?
