As i think a few people have also complained about, my S3 seemed to be over-revving when changing gear and makes you sound like your granny changing gear. I was thinking it could have been the clutch switch that could be giving me the problems, but it seems it was the DV.
I replaced my DV last...
Ok, as my post further down states I'm having problems with my CD changer in the boot. I have a Concert HU with a tape player.
The system is non-Bose, my car is pre-facelift S3.
I don't like the CD changer in the boot anyway, i much prefer to have a stereo which takes CD's, even if it is just...

what happens if you get a call and the stereo is no on then?? does it turn it on for you?

Tested this out last night. Stereo doesn't switch on as such but car kit works as usual with sound coming through the front speakers

i would never get it fitted by a 'professional' my dad took his car to get one installed and they made a crap job.
i'd rather learn how to do it myself and take a day doing it carefully!

Exactly right. Job satisfaction is a great thing. Plus the money you save can buy a...

I have a pre facelift 2000 S3 so don't know if this makes a difference to the wiring to the stereo. There definitely is an ignition live though cos i took my turbo timer feed off of it too.
If you pop out the lenses of the lights you will see a couple of philips screws in there. Take...
Not sure about what happens when you have the radio off, never switch mine off but i'll investigate that.
The wiring harness does give ignition power, i didn't have to tap into anything else.
To get the mic from the A pillar to the light, you can pull the headlining out enough to get the mic...
Quick question peeps,
I have an S3 fitted with Concert HU and 6 cd changer in boot. The sound from the Radio and tape is fine and is as good as you'd expect from a factory system. I have Bass set to +2 or 3 and it handles it fine.
If i then select CD, the speakers vibrate as if they have tears...
Jedi Knight,
I have put the Nokia CK-1W kit in my S3. I actually bought a proper wiring harness that you simply plug between the HU. This takes care of all your power and the speakers.
I fitted the box behind the glovebox with cable ties and ran the mic up the passenger side A pillar. I didn't...

i think the reason why you had a really high peak boot rate was because they have to check the lovely fumes that come out your car and if they are nice enough to pass within their limits..

I don't think they'd manage to get that sort of boost by holding the revs at 5K...
As mentioned above i only used the dealer as i thought they would be 'keener'. All they do in reality is cane your car 2 miles to the local mot station.
I have used a VW/Audi Specialist called IVC on Globe Road Leeds (0113 2420875). They fitted me a clutch and flywheel at a fraction of the Audi...
Just thought i'd share my latest stealer experience with you. I have a AA warranty on my car that covers virtually everything (especially at MOT time) so i thought where better to get my S3 pulled apart for an MOT than at Wakefield AUDI. I explained that the front passenger seat did not tilt...
Mine was on the outside about 2 or 3 inch in from the edge of the door (handle side) above the bump strip, about the size of a top half of a 10p if you get my drift. It was just bubbling no rust showing.
I now seem to have spots of rust forming on the back arches where there seems to be pin...
If you do a search there has been a thread on this subject in the last week. Basically i had this problem, took it to Audi, got a new door skin put on and trim under warranty (they do hold water around the fasteners)This was last year and mines a 99 import which i'd only owned for a month or...
Should be a claim on the cards then.
It was an independent body shop that told me to try and claim.. basically he told me that what happens is, the rivets that hold the trim on can hold water around the rivet and the hole in the door skin.. this then starts bubbling up. Mine wasn't showing rust...
Markb,
I had some rust forming on my drivers door from under the plastic trim. Took the car to Audi who pointed me to their spray shop at the Skoda Dealers. They looked at it, sent the claim off and within a few days Audi gave them the go ahead. New Door skin, and trim, and a valet to boot...
Daily car - 4 mile a day round trip for me to work - I've done about 6K in this first year of having it!!
It would be cheaper on the bus, but they just don't seem to have the same sort of power!!
