Yeah, pretty easy if you have the knack, rev the engine let revs drop to the right point and shift, but you'll never get it 100% all the time and will miss occassionaly, thus shagging your gearbox.

That's not the fault of the HPI people. At the time of the check it wasn't stolen, end of story. HPi just confirms it hasn't been reported stolen, not that it hasn't been stolen.

Find out from the dealer if the name of the person who sold the car, was the same name of the person on the log book. ie - did the dealer ask for id to prove he was the registered owner of the vehicle. Not sure whether you have to be the registered owner to sell, but it's worth s try.
