i think main problem with s3 brakes is the discs. they easily get bent after a track session.
for a budget solution i would recommend you ss brake lines, good discs with good pads, brake fluid and brake cooling.
you can remove fog lights and put a cooling duct.(u will need to cut the wheel arch...
thanx for your replies..
you said "We know the car weighs 1455kg in std trim" did you weigh the car in standard trim? i am asking this because when i removed the rear seats and replaced oem front seats with sparcos the car was still weighing around 1450! i should have weighed the car before...

i have a couple of questions :)
i wonder how much weigh these sound deadening things and the front dash. did you weigh them?
are you planning any reinforcement on the front struts?
finally, are you planning to put on any carbon kevlar parts like hood...
i am deleting my sunroof and you are putting an open sky roof :D everyone's taste is different but in the end you made a very good job.
keep up the good work mate :icon_thumright:
thanx mate, i didnt think about the support bar. as you said its not a good idea removing it on a road car. but as i am thinking to put in a rollcage i should take this in to calculation.
Hi all,

I am stripping the S3. i want to keep the oem look while saving some weight. i dont want to take out the dash if its not going to worth.
so i need some more info before deciding to strip the front...
anyone knows what RS3 fenders and hood are made of and what is the weight?
as far as i know hood is alu. and fenders are GFK?
any idea on what is the weight saving according to steel panels?

do you have any plan of installing these oem alu/met.grey roof liners (or what you call it) matching with mirrors? they look great imo :icon_thumright:
yes oil is correct but dont know the filter, i didnt change the filter.
if i were you i would search about changing haldex oil and filter. some people have issues after changing the oil because of emptying wrong part of rear diff AFAIK. its better to keep the old oil and campare the volume by...
if you are going to buy powerflex buy no 1 and 2 and both left and right total 4 bushes. if you buy oem you can replace only the needed.
these rubber(oem) bushes are absorbing vibrations in the suspension elements thus enabling a smoot comfortable ride.
if you are after very crisp suspension...
powerflex ones are stiffer/harder than oems. if you want comfortable ones it will be better to buy oem.
as for the no 1 and 2 it may not effect the comfort but i am not sure.
