IMO, this isn't true. The ECU is able to cope with adverse environmental
conditions and poorer fuel - it doesn't have much scope to advance timing on
race gas for example. Believe it or not, there is still a lot of variation in
what various cars and engines will do (mileage does have an...
Really? The free VAGCOM version now lets you log all the groups and interprets all
the fault codes for you?. As far as I am aware, only the full version is of any use for
diagnosing this type of problem.
The "specialist" you anecdotally refer to sounds more like a dealer to me ;-).
I...
If you have access to VAGCOM then yes, you can do some of the research yourself. However, without access to the diagnostics and the ability to do sensor logging
you are just guessing. I don't think 49+VAT is that steep to have someone who really
knows what they are doing look over the car.
I never said I put 62 litres in, just going off what it says in the book. The most I have
ever put in was 56 litres which was yesterday - 63 quid, ouch!!. This is fettling the clit
as well. My dis shows 14.2 average at the minute. I used to get a lot more out before
I went K04 and 630cc...
They are both accessible with the right tools. You need an O2 socket (and a crows foot
for good measure) - they have a slot for the wire. It also helps to have a 'wiggle' socket
set - don't know what the professionals would call it! ;-). I've done both without breaking
anything and if I can...
Looks fine to me. The scales are funky, not the numbers. Most places use the same
scale. The peak is probably from overboost which all these ECUs have - supposed to
give you a bit more grunt for overtaking. Doesn't work in my car, just makes it sound like
an asthmatic pig having a ****.
We don't really know what has been quoted. I still think 240 for changing all four
springs is a good rate. It can be a total ******* if bolts are seized etc.
You don't have to undo the pinch bolt if you are just replacing springs on an S4. You
can just drop the strut out by undoing the two 13mm nuts which hold the strut to
the camber plate. It takes a bit of wiggling but it is possible. I'd only touch the pinch bolt
if I was doing the upper control...
The RS4 IC outlets (upper and lower) require 2.5" ID piping. The offside lower
charge pipe is also different on the RS4 (longer). See my thread in the classifieds for
more details :-)
ICs are fine. Shrouds are cut for fit the S4 bumper profile. You'll need some pipework and
the lock carrier will need to be trimmed but that's pretty straight forward - I used a
reciprocating saw. The ad is still in the classifieds I think, more detail in there.
I fitted a CXRacing FMIC...
Are you sure it wasn't 1.65 absolute boost (i.e. 0.65 boost above 1.0 atmospheric)? That
sounds about right at redline on k03s. MRC maps tend to 1.1 - 1.2 bar (above atmos)
at peak.
