    A4 2.0 TDI DPF cleaner??

Cheers Rick. Shame you're not nearer - I'd probably get arrested if I try and drive it to Stockport in limp mode! Anyone know if limp mode can be disabled despite all these warning lights flashing? My local garage didn't have any luck but then they didn't seem too confident about what they were...

    A4 2.0 TDI DPF cleaner??

Rather than starting yet another thread about DPFs I thought I'd tack onto this one to try and find some advice... Last week I had an emission control warning light appear (08 A4 B7 2.0tdi 170 quattro avant) that was diagnosed at the local garage as an intermittent EGR valve problem and...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

New IMF fitted and no more judder when turning the engine off. I'm now pretty certain that the loop of gasket sticking out of the old one proved that it had blown, causing it to leak the oil that was below it in the engine bay and thus start sticking. Here's a shot showing old and new side by...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

!!!!!! CORRECTION !!!!!!: The part number in the above post is wrong (thanks to my Audi main dealer :banghead: ). According to the very helpful Murray's Direct, the above number is for a new Inlet Manifold and NOT for an Inlet Manifold FLAP, for which the correct part number is: A 03G 128 063...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

Thanks for the tip Jrd - think I'll go with a new one as am pretty sure the design has been upgraded so I want to make sure I put something in that's the latest spec, which should hopefully be more robust, but I will check the fuses thx. I've just got a part number for an IMF from...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

Another update. Back from the main dealers after a Major Service. The glow plug light went off and stayed off prior to the visit, but the emission control system light stayed on and the cause, via VAGcom readings, has been put down to the other achilles heal in this engine - the Intake...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

Quick update on this one. Performance slowly improved and then I stuck a can of BG244 in it to flush out the system. It got slightly worse before it got better, but once the tank had drained through it started driving like a brand new car. Typically though, the moment it gets back to normal...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

I'm not sure it was - you can see a slight edge on the valve in one of the pics which might suggest it was still turning. As the cogs were ok I guess this suggests it was still turning although there could be a safety mechanism built in with the spring. The exhaust pipe to the egr was pretty...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

Ok, got the gaskets from Tonbridge Audi - very helpful bloke called Nick in spares made sure I got the bits I needed. The rubber one is for the join where the anti-shudder valve joins the EGR and it looked like the old one was blowing so thought it best to get that too. Bought some torx bits...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

Cheers chrisk, that's v. useful info. I was wondering if that was the case with the loop as it doesn't look pinched. Am about to call the main dealer to get the gaskets then hopefully I can limp up there and get them, along with some new torx spanners! Was going to do the journey in my other...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

Quick update. I've had a look under the hood after seeing an egr removal guide on here that helped me identify what's where and made a few discoveries. Firstly, the EGR valve is showing clear signs of an oil leak, and there appears to be a loop of soft rubber seal actually hanging out of it...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

After a bit of rummaging through the forums it seems this is a common problem. Top contenders so far: 1. The MAF need to be checked / cleaned / replaced if necessary 2. The EGR need to be thoroughly cleaned or blanked off 3. The turbo needs to be cleaned - Mr Muscle apparently has the cure...

Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDi coughing and spluttering again

Hi, I own a 2008 B7 2.0TDi 170 S-Line SE quattro avant with 77k on the clock and it's not running too good. This may not be relevant, but a couple of months ago I had the timing belt replaced at 75k and it also had injectors replaced under a recall (main dealer did the work). A couple of days...

    Headlight Issues

I'm all for Xenons - yes they can dazzle under certain road cambers but they make a huge difference to visibility. I used to get the odd flash when in my facelift S3 but have replaced that with an A4 with Xenon pack which includes 'see round corners' active headlights. The lit area of road is...

A4 2.0 TDi Quattro S-line Special Edition Avant

lol - nice one cupramax. Got my cards a couple of months ago but staggering how they drop in price - top link too, cheers. I'll get some pics of the A4 up this arvo.

A4 2.0 TDi Quattro S-line Special Edition Avant

Couldn't agree more marms - nor could the new choc labrador and the 2 kids. Always loved the A4 - still got an S reg 2.8q that drives as well as the day it left the factory and nothing has ever gone wrong (touching cheap pine desk as I type), but sadly got to go soon.

A4 2.0 TDi Quattro S-line Special Edition Avant

Got to be the longest name for a car, ever. Anyway a little tale... I ordered a new one of these back in May, from Tonbridge Audi, Kent. After a few months I was notified that the car was in - great. Two minutes later the phone rang again - it's not the spec you wanted. Not the Special Edition...

    S3 Xenon bulb fault???

The bulb doesn't flicker - it just doesn't come on sometimes. If it doesn't I turn the lightswitch on and off and then it fires up, but with a slight delay compared to the other one. Once on it stays on and when warm it comes on instantly (due to residue charge?). I think it's a bit like the old...

    S3 Xenon bulb fault???

Thanks rodenal, sound advice. Just one more question! I've spoken to hids4u.co.uk again and I need to know if the ballast is a type 1, 2 or 3.... anyone got any ideas?

    S3 Xenon bulb fault???

Thanks all, think I'll get someone else on it for the bumper! Is it easy to remove the bulbs for a swap test - not a lot of room on the nearside! I'd actually just sold the car - and then this happens. Am hoping it doesn't put the bloke off as he wants it today - but he's got no chance methinks.
