Links to A4/S4/B5 compatible Ebay finds and classified. FOR SALE/WANTED/ BREAKING

Have a friend looking for a rear sub frame for an R reg (Feb 1998) A4 1.9 TDI Avant Quattro. Anyone know where he could get hold of one? Original has corroded to the point of not being repairable.

    Leak?

A water leak in that area could be coming in past the seal just to the rear of the wee black plastic triangle at the front of the window in the door. I think it is probably possible to silicone the seal to the metal although some silicones don't stick terribly well. If you remove the door trim...

Airbag light problem - 2000X A4 2.5TDI avant Quattro tiptronic

That's interesting - mine has a TD suffix so might have been replaced previously (I have had the car since 2006). I have sourced a J suffix from a local breaker - £40 + VAT. Will give it a go and see if it makes any difference. If the same fault persists it would tend to indicate that the ECU...

Airbag light problem - 2000X A4 2.5TDI avant Quattro tiptronic

That TD suffix rings a bell. Pretty sure it doesn't have curtain airbags. Can either part number be used then? I assume the TD suffix was an updated version, possibly to correct some sort of problem with the original?

Airbag light problem - 2000X A4 2.5TDI avant Quattro tiptronic

Thanks for that. I am keeping an eye on Ebay although I have mislaid the exact part number and so may have to open it up to check - it's the standard number but can't remember the final suffix apart from that it is 2 letters, possibly one of them a T. The Audi dealer refuse to give out details...

Airbag light problem - 2000X A4 2.5TDI avant Quattro tiptronic

I've already done that and it seems OK at the connector. Also gave the connectors a scrape in case they were corroded but they seemed OK. Haven't done the passenger side yet. however the garage didn't pick up a fault code that would indicate a connector problem, just an allegedly faulty ECU...

Airbag light problem - 2000X A4 2.5TDI avant Quattro tiptronic

Every morning I start my car and the airbage light goes out but comes on a few seconds later. I then stop the engine and use an airbag resetter tool to put the light out (sometimes takes a couple of attempts). Thereafter the airbag light works fine all day, but the next morning I have to go...

Airbag control unit problem: replacement unit?

Further to previous post above, I removed the driver's seat and simply disconnected the connector to the seat airbag and reconnected it a few times to clean up the connections (possibly slightly corroded), however then the airbag light wouldn't go out at all even though the wee box of tricks...

Airbag control unit problem: replacement unit?

Further to my query from nearly a year ago, I bought the airbag reset tool and it worked. hHwever my car has recently come back after being off the road for 7 months waiting to get the diesel pump in the engine fixed (the place doing the reconditioning, in Chorley apparently) took forever to do...

Airbag control unit problem: replacement unit?

I have an airbag problem that probably requires a new airbag controller. Looking for part number 8D 0 959 655 TD (or possibly TB which is for cars with head airbags which I assume are the ones on the side roof rails above the front doors Need to check if I have them). My car is a 2000X 2.5TDI...

how rare is the 110 tdi avant quattro?

I used to have a 1.9TDI Quattro Avant, R registration. I sold it in 2006 and it was still going strong until a week ago when the guy I sold it to phoned to say it needed a new rear subframe (original one was corroded - not galvanised I think) that was going to cost quite a lot and it meant he...

1.8 A4 avant SE servicing and removing of the inspection/service light (HELP!!)

On mine, you hold in both the buttons on the instrument panel at the same time (the mileometer reset button and the clock adjustment button although yours may be an older dash layout) and then turn the ignition on. Job done.

    fogging up

I have had a blocked scuttle drain on my last 2 A4s. If you drive around with the radio off you can hear the water sloshing about on corners. In my cars, the water came up to the level of the underside of the battery before flooding the footwell, and you will feel that one as your feet get...

    Washer fluid leaking away

I have a 2001 A4 Avant. During the recent very cold weather, I found that my headlamp washers appeared to be sticking out from the bumper slightly as if they had skooshed but not retracted fully afterwards - protrusion was only about half an inch or so. I now find that if I fill the washer...

Poor MPG on A4 2.5 TDI 180 Quattro

I seem to have a similar problem - both water and oil temperature gauges go no higher than 70 degrees and the heater is a bit anaemic. Fuel consumtion is very disappointing around town and on a run I get maybe mid 30s at a push. Not impressive for a diesel (2.5TDI tiptronic quattro). I had...

    Wiper Motor

There is an endemic problem with VAG wipers which leads to them being sluggish or even stopping at random points on the screen. It seems that the wiper spindles corrode and seize up. If the fault is not fixed, the motor ends up stripping the nylon gears in the mechanism. Solution is to remove...

    Tiptronic gearbox reverse gear problem

I have a 2001 A4 2.5TDI Quattro Avant which recently suffered flooding of the driver's side footwell, resulting in the tiptronic ecu malfunctioning. After drying it out for a few weeks, it now appears to be back to normal with the D light not flashing any nore. However recently I found that on...

    Vorsrung Durch Smugness

Had a lot of fun in Edinburgh at the weekend. My 2.5TDI Quattro is unstoppable - well, apart from the wee plastic undertray that came unclipped and eventually fell off half way down the M74. I seem to recall my last 2 A4s also had these plastic undertrays that came loose. Might fabricate an...

A Collosal dillema - many sleepless nights on this one

I work full time (I have my own firm) but also have built up a portfolio and am looking to being able to retire on it within the next 18 months if things continue in the way that is anticipated or my particular shares. I'd say spread betting is a bit risky as you could get caught out on margin...

Audi A4 2.5TDI Quattro automatic gearbox help needed

The ECU has obviously fully dried out now because the D light no longer flashes and I have the full 54321 manual over-ride function back. Result. If it happens to anyone else I'd suggest lifting the carpets, sponging out as much water as possible, and putting the ECU in your airing cupboard...
