    Quattro Rear Vibration Noise...

Only done 66k miles. I've VAG-COM'd it already which is how I know about the ABS/TCS fault. There's just something not quite right. My guess is that the vibration is either a propshaft bearing, or a rear diff mechanical problem, or the Haldex is shagged. Either way a pretty expensive repair...

    Quattro Rear Vibration Noise...

Oh dear, such a lovely tidy car apart from this though. Well, it ain't exactly cheap, though, but I have to say I'm a little suspicious - why spend this much money on rear suspension, new alloys, etc. and then sell the car a couple of months later, that's what's ringing alarm bells with me? I...

    Quattro Rear Vibration Noise...

Guys, Just test-driven a nice looking A3 Quattro. I noticed it had had all new rear coil springs, drive shafts, bearings and arms very recently (at an Audi dealer). Is this common, or something I should suspect something like crash damage? There was a funny low frequency vibration when...

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Damn, that is a sweet looking car! I think I'm a convert!

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Thanks Andy, I'll wait around on suspension then. Might make you an offer on the Golf RARB if I ever manage to find a nice clean A3TQ to put it on! Is yours a 5-door then? Go on, show me some pics, I haven't liked any I've seen so far but you never know, yours might impress... ;)

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Guys, you're right. Handling aside, they do look a lot cleaner aesthetically as a 3-door. I found quite a clean looking 5-door, but it doesn't set my pulse racing, if you know what I mean. I agree also, if 5-door wanted the Golf is the car to go for.

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Yeah, that's what I thought! Very bizarre. I was hoping it is just photoshop and not some kind of odd cut and shut... Jeepers. Anyone know of any 'kosher' A3 Quattros for sale? There seem to be so many dodgy ones about since I've been looking? My budget's around £4000-ish for a...

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Is the wheel-base of the 3 and 5 door the same, or did they lengthen the 5-door?

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Oh, you can put S3 suspension on? Sounds very worthwhile! Do you have a parts/price list from when you did yours, by any chance?

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

I think I'll keep looking for a 3-door, then guys. I don't have a need for 5-door so if 3 is better handling wise I'll stick to it. By the way, anyone know whether the 2000-ish 3-door ever came with the longer rear, and split rear window? I was on Autotrader and very puzzled by this pic...

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Thanks for the reply! Is your S3 a 3, or 5 door? Or were S3's always 3-door? Anyone actually driven/owned both and could give a defnite answer? Cheers

    3-door vs. 5-door Handling

Hi, Read a review somewhere which was of the opinion that the (1996-03) 5-door A3 Quattro was not as good in the handling department as the 3-door of the same generation. Any truth to this? If so, how great is the difference and can anything be done about it (e.g. rear strut brace, etc.)...

Paint bubbling/corrosion on edge of roof

Guys, Thanks for those responses, very helpful. TBH it's put me right off an A3. I'm going to stick with my 80 V6 and spend some money making her nice again! Cheers, James:salute:

IMPORTANT ALL READ. Rusting bottom of doors, when will it be yours?

In the worst-case scenario that Audi didn't accept a warranty claim for the door corrosion issue, how much would you expect to have to pay to get it sorted properly if paying privately? Cheers, James

Paint bubbling/corrosion on edge of roof

Hi, I usually post around on Audifans, but was directed to this thread as thinking of buying an A3 to add to the Audi collection. I have to say I am really concerned about this thread. I've never owned a non-Audi car, and the one area which I considered bullet proof was the bodywork. Can you...
