MFSW oddities and other A3 changes

I guess it's what you get used to but I prefer it the way it is in my current car rather than the courtesy one. Maybe because I'm left handed, I always look at a list from the bottom to the top so what I have now suits me better. :-) I take it VCDS is something to do with Vehicle Coding so if...

MFSW oddities and other A3 changes

Hi folks, Over the last two days, I've had a courtesy car as my A3 2.0 TDi went in to get (yet another) turbo replaced! (Another long story). Anyway, on the 60 plate A3 1.8T that I got (with S-tronic), I see that Audi have made some changes that I found quite irritating. First was the unlock...

    Audi Blutooth & HTC Desire

Yeah, I've found the same thing. I normally just switch it off again immediately after it pairs.

Things You Didn't Know Your A3 Did!

I had a look at this and I can see no way for the rear sun roof to open. It appears to be fixed in place. Would love to be proved wrong but I just don't see any way for this to happen.

    Audi Blutooth & HTC Desire

With Froyo, it helps a little but it's still not perfect. Still have to reset bluetooth every so often to get it to connect. However, it does work better. I haven't tried it with anything else, may try a standalone bluetooth headset. G-man

    Audi Blutooth & HTC Desire

The only problem I have is the time it takes to get the 'BT ON' message. Sometimes it's seconds, sometimes it's half an hour. I've got a bluetooth widget on the main screen so I can switch bluetooth off/on very quickly and that does help.....sometimes! My old Windows mobile phone sync'd up in...

Things You Didn't Know Your A3 Did!

You sure you're holding down the button for at least 3-4 seconds? It doesn't happen instantly, usually a few seconds delay. Could also be disabled on your car.

    Audi Blutooth & HTC Desire

The problem is though, my bluetooth is on all the time. Today it didn't sync up at all! (40 min journey).

Audi A3/S3 Blutooth and HTC Desire

Not for me! Takes up to 10 mins to get to 'BT ON' ! My Win mobile was FAR FAR better at Bluetooth, usually taking no more than 5 - 10 seconds to get to the same point. Once the Desire has sync'd up it works fine.

    Audi Blutooth & HTC Desire

I have the Desire as well, what I find is that it can take anything up to 10 mins to get the 'BT ON' on the DIS. I can get it to work straight away by going into Bluetooth settings and click on the Audi device. Once it has sync'd up it works fine. Just the delay is a pain. My previous phone...

Things You Didn't Know Your A3 Did!

Found a new one recently with the Symphony. Playing a CD about halfway through, wanted to eject one of the other discs, so pressed Eject, pressed '6' (CD 5 was playing). CD 6 ejected, it then reloaded CD5 and played back from the same place, no going back to the beginning of the cd. :)

Things You Didn't Know Your A3 Did!

I tried this last week, doesn't work on my 56 2.0 TDI S-Tronic.

Anyone else have S-Tronic (DSG) issues?

I found that initially, but found that if you let the car start to creep forward first then start to accelerate it will be off to a flying start. If you try to boot it from a dead stop there is a bit of 'dead space' before it picks up.

Things You Didn't Know Your A3 Did!

Found this out the other night quite by accident  Driving away (S-tronic) with the handbrake on and you get a warning on the DIS 'Handbrake applied' LOL

    Heated windscreen washer jets?

Yeah, I can hear the motor working. Just no water from the jets..

    My A3 experience so far...

Did you pay using finance/HP ? If so, let your finance company know as well. Basically it is their car until you make the final payment and they are responsible. Years ago I had an Astra that was constantly breaking down, I ended up giving it back to the finance company as it was undriveable.

    Heated windscreen washer jets?

I guess they are on whenever the ignition is on, probably just a very mild heat applied. I would imagine that the water pipe from the tank has a jacket with a thin wire through it with a small charge applied to prevent it freezing. Thanks for all the info, I'll check the mixture is right...

Is there anyway of finding out what extras my car has?

Thats odd, I've never seen them on the configurator unless they are bundled in with something else?

Is there anyway of finding out what extras my car has?

Years ago, there used to be a thing on audi.co.uk called 'My Audi' where you could register your car reg and VIN number and it would produce a list of all the options your car left the factory with. This seems to have been removed now (although it's possible it's hiding somewhere in the...

    Heated windscreen washer jets?

It does when the car is still cold, one the heater kicks in then it works fine. My 2.0TDI takes around a mile of driving straight after starting to get warm air from (pretty quick really), once the warm air hits the windscreen, the water doesn't freeze. Worked today anyway when it's -7...
