That's interesting because the recent software upgrade cured my longstanding rough "transit" issues but now the car is completely flat when taking up drive in 1st - in fact it often nearly stalls.
Not always though- if you blip the throttle gently at idle sometimes nothing happens and sometimes...
Vertigo...
Sounds good - mine has been off the road as it was rear-ended but it's back now and...
So far I have had no symptoms - maybe it's just coincidence but where is the exhaust gas sensor located? I had to have the nearside exhaust replaced (it was bent!).
Sounds good with the update - looking forward to the feedback...
With the cold revving - I only do it twice, take first gear to 3000ish then 2nd gear to 3000ish - then drive normally... So it may not be doing much damage... But mine is leased too!
Temp fix....
Until the ECU upgrade is released - try this:
I noticed on a previous post some guy going on about owners not revving past 2500rpm. Also Vertigo1 said that if it doesn't happen in the first 5 minutes it won't happen during a journey... This appears to be correct and I noticed...
The tractor noise definately seems to coincide with the regeneration cycle - but why is it so random? And also, more importantly, why is it so rough?
So the thing has to regenerate - great but surely it shouldn't affect performace, driveability and the pleasure of owning an Audi?
To top it...
Yes - exactly right - the exhaust makes a cracking sound as if it has been red hot! - If you roll the car forward (in fault mode) and then take up drive in reverse you should hear a kind of low vibrating sound. As I say if it is not in Transit mode this doesn't happen.
I've been keeping an eye on the symptoms and have noticed a few others which may help the techies figure it out. I have had an Audi Transit all day today - even when I turn off the ignition and re-start it only goes away for a few seconds then - cough- it's back again.
Have you noticed that...
Hi Deborah,
I am sending this through the advice on the Audi-Sport forum.
I have a 2007 A4 Avant S-line Special with the TDI 170 DPF.
I have returned it to my dealer on a few occasions to try to rectify the "transit van noise" which you will now be familiar with. No fault codes were...
Spent yesterday with a transit Audi and today it is perfect again - same fuel, same weather, same driving style, same route!
I'm off to email Audi...
When it does occur - rebooting (I mean turning off and on again not flooring it) fixes the problem - idle returns to normal and everything is...
Just checking in - I'm still getting the same trouble - although it has been behaving for the past few days - it's very random!
I am keeping an eye on your results vertigo - as it seems you have the patience to get it sorted out .
"Runs well?
Are you saying you're only getting the noise issue and not the stuttery acceleration?"
What I mean is it will still go... It is uneven and stuttery at idle and as you take up drive it is not smooth. Also as I said before it runs on when changing gear so is jerky but it does pull...
I will keep a note of the circumstances under which the fault occurs...
I have loosely been doing that anyway and apart from one occassion the pattern is : - more prevelant with a different brand of fuel ie Morrisons not Shell which seems to cure it except when the tank reaches empty.
I...
Tried an experiment and put Morrisons Fuel in again - now it's happening much more often. Do you always use the same brand of fuel? Maybe worth changing...
Might be a red herring but worth investistigating.
Looks like it!
It seems to me that it must be a software error - but the dealer doesn't agree... in fact they say that the fault can't be re-created when in their custody...
Good to know how you get on.
