Finally got the A3 burner back last Friday. £1000 bill had some other work done at the same time and all running fine.
Apparnetly the ECU is a weak link in the A3 and the dealer that did the coding of the ECU says they have one in at least every day to do.
Why would and ECU be such a crap...
Just to update again some good and some VERY BAD news.
APS did some more fault finiding and came up with the ignition switch as the cause of the problem. £20 part and 3 hours later still the same problem. Seams to be worse when it is hotter.
Now diagnosed as the ECU a £450 + vat part, plus...
Just an update, the AA came out and it started first time. He also told me that the "red oil" light will come on when the car has been cranked over and does not start. So oil was not the problem.
Drove the car to APS in Brackely for Nathen to have a look at. Plugged in VAGCOM and came up with...
read the manual and its uselss. Just says fill it with oil and doesnt refer to any other problems.
awaiting on the AA to bring me some oil as i cant get to any without a 15 mile hike!
Urgent help required, just went out to my car and it wont start. It turns over and after a while the "red oil" symbol on the dis comes on. It does need oil but i cant get out to get any. Did check it yesterday and it was fine so it has lost it all in 24hours, no signs on the floor!
Will the...

i suspect it will show a cayman a good run for its money. I certainly can in the S3 even against M5's M3's 911's espcically on a fine damp morning.
Syaing that the S3 will show the likes of the M5's etc a good show, not its quicker, better, faster just that in the right...

BORED.......
Only posting opionions of having driven them both and everyday experiences of driving.
I have a Caterham CSR in the garage as a "play car" so do know a thing or too about driving front...
Read this all the way and there is some b@llocks being talked.
What no one has mentioned is the british weather, last year i had a Cayman S for 24hr on test, it was raining and hard to keep the thing in a straight line. Even with all the aids swtiched on i did'nt fell comfortable driving it...
I'm getting 30mpg on the commute to work over 44 miles each way.
When its play time, you'd ne lucky to see anything over 26mpg.
Thats why i'm selling it for a 170 FR Leon. The cost of fuel and depreciation of a high miler S3 will kill me.
I had a BMC panel filter on my 3.2 TT, recomneded by Ed @ APS.
If its the same as the A3 then its in the shed looking for a good home. Less than 3 months old.
Anyone from here went to ADI on Saturday, if so did you track the car? Someone in a revo'd S3 signed up after me but never saw it on the track.
The R8 looked & Sounded awsome.
and the Appollo even better
