Thanks for that, that's what I was thinking. So that's a BRE coded engine then? Will this just plug/bolt straight in? Or does everything need re coding ecu wise? Has anyone already done this swap?

thanks for the replies, when the revs drop the needle goes down as well as the engine actually slowing, causing the car to judder as you drive. Unless it cuts out completely of course then it just stops completely, and has to be left for a few minutes before it will fire up again, it turns over...

been to Audi today to pick their brains. They recon it could be power supply or fuel pump related, or maybe a dodgy relay or earth somewhere. Any thoughts on that?

as above, whilst trying to sort other things today and fitting new suspension I noticed my discs are horribly rusty and manky. Should I just replace with Audi items or can anyone recomment some decent aftermaket ones and where from?

cheers for the advice, the old plugs I took out today were a bit black and a couple had some oil around the threaded part. When it dies you can turn it over but it won't fire up, then battery dies again. Think I will take it out and charge properly tomorow, and try running with fuel cap off...
