The wife wants a TT, put its only for a year, if that, before family cars come along. Just the older shape for around 4 or 5k, but more like 4k. I know there all gonna have 100k on the clock, but is there any decent ones about or are they all hammered?
well the car is back to normal now!!! have a guess what the problem was.....?.............a faulty coil on cylinder 1. New coil bought from eurocar parts for 20 quid, and its now back to full glory!
Thanks for the help guys!
whilst i wait for the coil pack i bought some spark plugs and have only managed to fit 2 before i snapped the plug removed (cheap halfords thing). Cars still crap with 2 new plugs anyway. Is it possible it could be the air mass meter?
A fella in work is bringing a fault code reader and a plug...
well just tried the car, and it seems ok now. I unplugged a coil pack and it did sound how it was. Maybe its when they have got hot, then their failing? anyway, i will order one, or two!
red wiring loom? cant remember seeing that. Is that the same for the 1.8T. I will give that a try though!
If it is coil packs, how much ££ am i looking at?
Just went to tatton park, fine. Had a walk then back to the car and started up. The idle was really lumpy though, and when i pulled off it just hesitated really bad, rumbling and engine light flashed for a while then went off. I had to slowly accelerated to get up to speed on motorway and so on...
It comes off the breather then goes back into the turbo intake (i think). Problem is, its gets really hot, you cant touch it once the engines up at temp. Surely the turbo is sucking in red hot gasses??
Well phoned a VW/Audi specialist near me and they quoted a days work (£350 labour) to change the torque converter, but they said to bring it in for diagnostic first to make sure.
I found that if you lock the boot with the key you may have problems. There is a small microswitch on the barrel of the boot key lock and if its not turned back to its normal position then it wont make the switch and allow power to the solenoid.
Slightly off the subject but still on imports. I have notice my VIN states the car is 2004, yet on the v5, first date of registration is oct 2003. The plate on the car is 53. Is that normal?
On the main sticker under the back seat i seen the option codes also, decoded them, So i actually know the extras the car has instead of guessing!
E4J = "S-line"
7A0 = Without CD changer/CD player
4UE = Air bag for driver and front seat passenger
6XE = Exterior mirrors: electrically foldable...
just phoned the previous owner (40's) and he knew nothing of an engine swap.
In the service book there is a delivery inspection stamp around the time of importation from crewe audi, so i will give them a try.
