Well after a very frightening drive home in the rain on Monday night I decided to admit defeat and booked the car in to be fixed today.
The garage were convinced it was the motor but on speaking with Audi were told to recheck as it was a common fault for the wiper linkage to go. They rechecked...
Its looking like I'll have to take it out and have a look, not much room in there though. Was starting to wonder if it was the switch on the steering column, if I switch that on and off it would move a little each time...the same if I turned te inition off and on?????
For now it seems to be...
Has anyone had any experience of the following fault codes on VAG-com. My wipers started acting up at the weekend...stopping and starting at will and moving very slowly at times.
I've had a bit look about and they seem to be working ok now but as I've not actually done anything I'm just...
Think I'll give VAGparts a go too, just grabbed the part no's from Tyresmoke. Gonna have a look at the one thats on the car first though to make sure the stealers weren't trying to pull a fast one saying it needed doing. They were trying to tell me an advisory on the MOT meant I needed new tyres...
This thread is very appropriate today so comes in very handy. My Avant was in for its first MOT today and failed on a corroded rear ARB. Cant believe a 3 year old car can be so corroded but there you go. Newcastle Audi were wanting £185 for replacing it with a standard one but seemed a little...
I had my 1.9TDi remapped by Damien and am still well happy with the results. And once I got over initial heavy footedness and calmed down, the fuel consumption did improve slightly over the pre-remap figures, getting around the 600 miles to a tank mark.
As long as its got a full service history there isn't to much to go wrong really other than checking out the bits you mentioned and obviously keep an eye out or any accident damage.
depending on what year you are going for the 17" alloys may be standard, they were on my 04 plate avant anyway...
My opinion would be an Avant. I know I could be a bit biased but I had 2 different 2.0 TDi S-line Sportback's while mine was in for repair and neither had the quality feel of the A4. Just my opinion though.
Nightmare..!!
I'd stick with the standard rims though and either go for a refurb, or sometimes you can pick up the odd new OE wheel on fleabay quite cheaply without a tyre.
Oh, and I went down the El cheapo route with a private plate too...all for 250 sheets. :)
Has anyone got any comments to make on costs at Newcastle Audi...???
My car is due a Service (on 95k) and 1st MOT in the coming weeks but having just started a new job recently money isn't as abundant as I'd like it to be.
Did get something from them last week about a Premier Plus 3 plan...
Thats not good mate but I'm sure they will sort it out. The reason for some problems is that they have had staff leaving and some of the people they got on weren't up to scratch, causing problems. Seems to be better now though. But its all audi approved and under guarantee so I'm sure they'll be...
Well the whole episode is finally over. The 4 days turned into 17 days but the finished job is spot on and I'm finally happy with the car again.
I got a bit of info on staffing problems they've had recently so perhaps thats where my hassles stemmed from.
Top marks to a guy called Tyson who...
I quite like the lambo wheels, they are a bit ugly but very different.
I love the Hartmann DTM rims but dont know what shipping would cost to the UK. They are top quality US rims and look like the MTM Bimoto's. Some pics here but no Avants pictured so I'm not sure if anyone can photochop em...
You can push to have it repaired by an Audi approved bodyshop. I did that after mine was vandalised, took a little longer for inspectors to come out etc. but they did approve everything.
Sadly thats where it all went wrong for me, the work they did was disgraceful (orange peel paint...
