At a constant speed it's very accurate providing the smoothing algorithm is up to the job. On a motorway you can also calibrate against the 100m marker posts with a stopwatch.

Yeah, I get that it's by design, but it's a pretty dramatic change in volume c/w the GALA I've had on other Audis.

I don't notice any hissing but the volume drops quite considerably when I come to a standstill. Bugs the hell out of me.

I had a Thule Alpine 100 with my old S3 but swapped it for an Alpine 500 when I got the A4 Avant so I could fit skis in. Now I'm back in an S3 and need to go back to a shorter box. I've also got a pair of Thule aero bars with clamps for roofbars going spare now..................
