good good, thanks for that.
And a little off the subject Ian, how do you find your B8's and H&R springs? they could well be my next addition to the S3. do they ride quite harshly with the 18" RSTT's?
Thanks
I know this is dragging up and old thread but I believe this trait of the S3 hinders a lot of people so...
exactly how hard is it to replace the top mounts. Is it a case of dropping the strut down and sliding old mounts and bearings off and sliding new ones on?
Thanks for any help Chris :o.k:
I would def have a look at your clutch, while the box is out it is the most economic time to change the clutch and the flywheel, rather than having it taken out again later to do the clutch.
So yes i would definately advise to do it.
off the top of my head my clutch is £120 and dual mass...
This exact thing happened to me recently, i got it taken to Audi, they quoted me £4320 for a new g/box and fitting in 10hrs. or they could investigate further for £1700 for 14hrs!!
I took it into work (a fast road and race car workshop) and I got my g/box refurbished for £400...

I know of plenty of 20vT's running 350+bhp with the standard side mount intercoolers. Chris from Regal Autosport who has just sold his S3 was running 380+bhp with standard side mounts, and with more software upgrades he would have been running 400+.
8Nm can be measured accurately using a torque wrench, tightening the bolts as much as pos is ok, just as long as the surfaces of the inlet manifold and the trottle body seal against the gasket...and don't over tighten them and strip the threads!
8Nm is not much torque so if they are done up...
Also see this... http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=39658&highlight=throttle+body+gasket a lot of good stuff on there but to sumurise, it might be worth getting a new throttle body gasket part number 028129748 and £1.82 inc VAT from Audi (bought mine today!) and the throttle body...
MAF Cleaning... http://www.wak-tt.com/mafclean/mafclean.htm
TB Cleaning...for A3 1.8T and similar not S3 due to the throttle body being on the left of the inlet manifold and not on the right as in 210/225 S3/TT but same process applies to all http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/thread/222737.aspx...
Quicksilver Exhausts are top notch, they make exhausts for top end cars, ceramic coated too if you want. but at a £££!! You see them advertise in EVO magazine among others.
jonS3, just out of interest and slightly off topic but what sort of power have you got from your MRC remap? I have very similar mods to you and wondered what they got out of your S3, i'm thinking of taking mine to MRC asap!!
Also I would like alternate routing pics for my Brem hoses too...thanks.
What diameter are Ibiza CR discs standard? smaller than 312mm i'm guessing? hence the radial spacing.
Whats faces would need maching off of LCR carriers to get them to fit 312mm discs instead of 323mm? that is different discs diameters not different offsets.
The offset on my LCR carriers may...
Hi Nick,
The carriers were machined on the two faces which bolt up against the upright on the car. this is where i had to put the spacers (washers!!)
def worth giving AMD a call, the set I saw had their name machined into then, very smart they looked to but not sure if they have stopped the...
Sorry Nick, I sold the entire setup to a guy on RS246, for his S2. But hopefully those pics might help a bit.
I know big boys toys own AMD now but AMD used to have the correct carriers for them. If they still do them then they would work for sure. I think LCR carriers would work too, but prob...
