capercaillie, I did it myself in the end.
I ordered 2 new sensors from VAG parts at £38.00 each, a can of plastic primer for Halfords and an aerosol touchup kit from Audi (£15 IIRC). Sprayed them both with 3 light coats of primer, then 4 of paint and clear. I was going refit them myself as...
I had exactly this on my S4, initially the fault was intermittent (as yours is), but eventually it proved terminal. Two of the sensors had died. I was quoted nearly £300 by my dealer to supply and fit new items!
I tried Audi accessories and my local dealer but I'd left it too late as both had to order the part and couldn't get it here in time. Went with the stick on type instead!
Seemed to do the trick - didn't get flashed at all!
A bit more research last night turned up these...
...OEM Audi Xenon beam deflectors!
I've emailed VAG parts and Audi accessories for prices. Fingers crossed
I checked the manual when I got home and basicaly it says it needs adjusting but to take it to a qualified technician - i.e take it to the dealers!
There must an easier way! Plus I had a quick poke around in the engine bay too... and there's no way I could get my hand anywhere the back of the...
Hi Colemanlee76 - yeah that's fine I've got (access to) a trolley jack - what I was wondering was where's the best location to place the jack in each of the 3 situations.
Is it always best to use normal indicated jacking points? Or can you use a strong point somewhere at the front or back with...
Guys,
Wanted some advice about jacking the car (a B6 S4 - although I'm guessing the whole A4 range is the same!?) and using axle stands. What's the best/safest way to do this if I wanted to jack up...
1. Just the front or back (If you were getting under the bumper etc)
2. Just one side...
Guys,
Anyone know how to you adjust the Bi-Xenon's on a 2003 B6 S4 for driving on the right, when on the continent? From what I've read (nothing for B6 S4 - unfortunatly!) you have to adjust a lever built into the back of the lamp unit!
Some posts say you have to remove the whole unit to...
I had mine fitted at QST in Haywards Heath last week. They already had it in stock so was fitted within a week of me first enquiring about it!
Top service and very knowledgable chaps!
Guys - I've had my 03 B6 avant about 6 months now and there's a couple of small things that niggle me occasionally (Although not enough to spoil my enjoyment of the car!) whilst driving and I just wondered if they were typical of all cars in this model range or peculiarities to just mine...
Try gently scrubbing with a little diluted all-purpose cleaner (Like Meg's APC) and a small detail brush or soft paintbrush. Then follow up with some rubber dressing (Something like AG's Bumper Care or CG's New Look Trim Gel).
Apparently smooth peanut butter does a good job too?! Haven't...
OK Rich - Fair enough I guess! I'll see if any of the other guys on DW have any experiences. The only reason I asked here was that Polished Bliss pretty much seem to the the only pro outfit that uses/recommends it!
If yuou don't mind me asking (Feel free to tell me to mind my own business!)-...
Rich - you're obviously getting great results with the Jeff's stuff, but I was just wondering if you'd used the CG Jetseal 109 yet and how you thought it compared to the Jeff's acrylic?
It seems to be getting rave reviews from just about everyone who's used it!?
Yeah mine are origional factory fitted units. I've emailed VAG parts for a price I'm assuming that once they're painted it's a (fairly) simple task of replacing the 2 faulty units with the new ones.
Although I understand you may need to remove the front bumpoer to get at them!
Hi guys I'm after some advice...
The parking sensors on my 2003 B6 S4 have been playing up recently, so after biting the bullet and taking it into my local dealers I'm told that the 2 outside front sensors have gone, which is affecting the others - effectively rendering the whole system...
I've always though the Lambo style wheels looked great on S3/S4 Audis as they're pretty similar to the Avus's. I started looking around for some after I saw this picture of a B6 avant...
