Thanks for the replies guys, i did try disconnecting the battery hoping it would erase any fault codes or reset itself but did not work, i then removed the dials and gave the plugs a blow and re-fitted them which has worked so maybe it was a slight loose connection.

Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this problem basically the rev counter on the car sits past 2k even when engine is off and key out, it sometimes kicks in and works then shoots back up? Car idles and drives fine though?
No idea, intermittently when i start the car and drive off the red exclamation mark in circle comes up and beeps, i have had it on a machine an it said front near side wheel sensor but i replaced this already.
I thought this was all about an ABS problem and not just random electrical faults, so why would checking fuses for other electrical items help cure and ABS fault?

i had a look at the ebay advert ones but they are for 2001> and mines a 1999 model.
i tried gsf they say they dont list them but other motor places might and i have tried most in my area, looks like its gonna have to be from a dealer!
As above wondered if anyone knows where i can get one, i have tried everywhere but no one seems to list them for the quattro model except audi, that cant be right??
