Due to my consistant oil burning of my 1.8 20vT i have decided i'm going to rebuild the cylinder head. is there any tips/advice for when doing this? i recon the oil burning is due to worn valve stem oil seals, so this is the main reason for the rebuild. thanks in advance. Stephen.

Prob. not a huge help but, if its a new one your after have a look at www.audi.co.uk You can build up your car, adding whatever features/extras you'd like.

i believe the only problem that will occur will be the oil sludging up, dont think its a hugh issue though. next time get the fully synthetic stuff ;)

ive read that its worth while changing the oil pump too. shouldn't be much to be done on a 40k mile engine. :)

is that oil not a bit think? i was under the impression that nothing more than the 35

there is castrol stuff in halfords, 0w35 fully synthetic. that is maked with one of the VW ratings. the other one i seen was also castrol, 0w30 fully synthetic also marked, but is intended for the long life service stuff. i think 1.8T takes 4.5ltrs. both the above oils one come in 4ltr bottles...

turbo should be ok, ive tried 2 different turbos. one fully reconditioned, the other a second hand one with 40000miles but still in good condition.

im engaged but no set date as yet. been with the lass for 7 yrs in a fortnights time with no regrets.

this guy is building up quite a good rep. i used to own a megane coupe and he had done a few of them with good results. will be interesting to see the outcome. also a fair bit cheaper than the other remaps on the market.

with the drive by wire the TB isn't open until the ignition is on. but need to disable fuel injection and coil packs, shouldn't be a problem. compression test will be done tomorrow(sunday) also there is the possibility that i will do a full re build on the engine soon if i dont get this sorted...
