New owner, rough idle, black smoke, hesitation - help/ideas needed please!

Sounds like your recirculating diverter valve is faulty to me (forgive me if im talking rubbish here, im sure this is the case). I had a similar issues on an old 1.8T Audi A3, changed the diverter valve and that fixed the atmospheric sound, never had any error messages or anything and it didn't...

    Niggly faults with friends TT

The temp gauge you may find is the instrument panel playing up, its common on TT's, my '02 TT 225 has a similar issue except the temp gauge sits at 95degC permanently when the car is switched on! Expensive to replace them, ive been quoted around £400-600! As for the window switch, if you go to...

Well its come to the time in which im selling the S3. At the moment the plan is to trade it in on a 56' plate BMW 120D Sport, as were planning on a little one within the next 12 months. Im only looking to get around £4k for the car as it does have 2 keyed scratches (one of which on the...

Car had to be towed today.......

Yeah got my car back from Midland VW today, all working perfectly. The cutting out turned out to be the engine speed sensor (or crank sensor to most of us) playing up when the engine warmed up! Had my passenger window regulator changed (window would never go back up on its own), a split oil...

Car had to be towed today.......

Thanks for the help guys, wasnt sure on the basis of it not being permanent 4wd, i turned ESP irrespective, wasnt sure whether that might resolve in the 4wd kicking in or trying to if it felt the wheels were spinning due to lack of load. Not to worry then, just hope Midland VW find the fault...

Car had to be towed today.......

Nope, the AA told me that because the car could start and drive, even thought it would stop without warning when it reached a certain temperature; they couldnt supply a flatbed or arrange for someone to move it, they told me i had to bite the bullet and get it to the garage, some 14 mile away...

    Car just died this morning.......

Not, it was an oil light, but it was a big red warning light in the center of the DIS. Ive dropped 2litres of oil and hopefully that will cure it. Ill check the oil level again in about an hour!

    Car just died this morning.......

Checked it about an hour ago and the car fired up, no warning lamps on. Checked the oil and its a bit low but i wouldnt have thought low enough to cause it to conk out, nonetheless ill top it up and see how it goes. But, the car does seem to be using a lot of oil, i topped up about 1.5...

    Car just died this morning.......

Well, basically ive noticed the S3 running about slower than normal over the past week or so and today driving to work it seemed no different to the past few days. However, pulled up into a parking space (a left turn) and the car just conked out, with a flashing warning light with an oil...

    yellow dots on certain bolts

Believe it or not, its not actually to signify that the bolts have been tampered with, in most cases its what we call a poke-yoke (preventing potential failure) or just a mere visual indicator to show that the bolt has been fitted and torqued down, normally for the next operator to visually...
