    Brakes / wheel overheating intermittent.

I've just had the same problem with mine and my post is a few down from this. I had to do both fronts on mine as they decided to seize up at more or less the same time. Mine had exactly the same symptoms, fine for the first few miles and occasionally it would go weeks without any problems but...

    Replacing rear spring

I tackled this job this morning and found it quite simple really and not as bad as some people say. I should have took more photo's really but wanted to get it done before it started raining but it may help someone who is struggling. Firstly at least the spring was the correct one I got, turns...

    Binding brakes

right I think its safe to say after a few days of driving the brakes are normal again. doing the pedal pump method of bleeding certainly worked a lot better than the pressure bleeder way. Just got to tackle the spring next.

    Type of suspension

Ok thanks, thats quite helpful, it confirms its standard suspension. Next question is - is the quattro rear suspension different to the FWD cars, the ebay listings don't make much sense at all.

    Type of suspension

Whilst sorting out my sticking brakes in the other thread I've discovered that I have a broken coil spring at the rear, whilst the job looks easy enough I'm confused as to which suspension I have. The car is a 2012 B8.5 2.0TDI quattro SE Technik. I thought it might have sports suspension but...

    Binding brakes

I've now changed 3 callipers on my car (the 4th was done a year or so ago) so they are all new now really and I think the binding has stopped for now at least. However the pedal still feels a bit spongy to me although the brakes seem to work ok. I bled the brakes by connecting a pressure bleeder...

    Binding brakes

Thanks for the reply, funny enough I watched a Dave Sterl video by chance over the weekend after I had changed the caliper and he was going on about the dust seal retaining clip rusting and jamming the calliper so it could well be that. The new calliper I got was only £35 off ebay, I can...

    Binding brakes

B8.5 2012 2.0TDI quattro RHD Ever since I've had this car I've had trouble with the brakes sticking. Firstly it was one of the rears but the calliper was actually seized so I changed it and all was well for a while, then occasionally the front brakes will drag slightly just for one journey and...

    Manual gearbox change

At last after a couple of problems this is now fixed and it turned out to be quite a simple fix in the end, thought I'd write a brief summary of what I did to help anyone else out who may have this problem in the future. I should have taken more pictures but I just wanted to get on and get it...

    Manual gearbox change

So far so good. Took the entire leg off to get some space to work in and as you can see the bearing is absolutely shot, must have been 5mm play in it. Just got to remove the new one now and refit everything. Cost so far £300 for the box, dread to think what a garage would charge.

    Manual gearbox change

    Manual gearbox change

Now why would I do that, nothing is impossible, I just want the easiest route to fixing the problem. Anyway I've decided to take the diff and front cover plate as one complete unit out of the donor gearbox and fit it to my car in situ, hopefully there is enough access to accomplish this...

    Manual gearbox change

I asked on here a while ago about a leaking/noisy front differential but didn't get any replies so I've plodded on with it for now. I have now purchased a complete gearbox from ebay complete with clutch and centre differential with the idea to dismantle the front diff and replace the one on my...

2012 A4 Quattro front diff oil leak

Hi, I wonder if anyone can offer any advice, I have the above car, its a 2.0 TDI 6 speed manual face lift so 2012 onwards. There is a fair bit of oil around the drivers side front area at the bottom, I've had a look this afternoon and its definitely gear oil and not engine oil. It does seem to...
