Im not surprised the parts man didnt know what an N75 J was, as they only talk in part numbers. Try again, but this time ask for an 034 906 283 J. Its a solenoid valve originally used on 3B and RR engines.
I have fitted facelift headlights to a pre-facelift S3. I had to cut more than is shown in that picture. Here's what I removed:
Somehow it felt a bit wrong taking an angle grinder to such a nice car, but I think the end result was good.
If you want a new engine for your APY, any S3 engine will do. APY, AMK, AUL and BAM all have the same blocks, crankshafts, pistons, conrods and cylinder heads. It's only the ancillaries that are different. Just swap all these parts from your old engine on to your new one.
Why do you want a new...
@ dultanur. If you don't have Vag-Com, get your brakes re-bled with the engine running. The bleed sequence is very important too. Start at the master cylinder and work away from it.
This technique works for me, and I had to find it the hard way.
I also use the bedding in technique as described...
IME the DV leaks between the boost entry pipe and the vacuum signal pipe. This causes the DV to leak under boost and the vacuum line cannot actuate the diaphram correctly, thus causing compressor stall. The vacuum line cannot flow enough air to prevent this.
A healthy DV will not make a...
The chatter you hear is compressor surge/stall, that's not normal. Most likely due to a faulty DV. Get a new one from your dealer - 06A 145 710N, it should be <£20.
That will tell you what engine it should have.
If you look at the cylinder head, the engine code should be stamped in the position shown in the picture:
It's a little easier to see with the engine cover off.
That will tell what engine the car most probably has.
Unless you are experiencing a long pedal, rather than spongy one. It could be a seized caliper. The usual problem is the rear caliper carriers binding on corroded pads. If you pries them out and clean them up with a wire brush, it should cure it.
It is worth a look anyway.
