    Wifes new car

You're right they are definitely not cheap,! I reckon you need to be a bit of an Audi fanatic otherwise there is better value around. Having said that, the thrill of driving a new car when there aren't many on the road put's a the smile back on your face that your bank statement wiped off!

    First Impressions

As soon as it stops raining i will shoot a few and post them. The big surprise for me is how few I see on the roads. In the last 7 weeks the only A1's I have seen are when I pass the dealership. I know it's early days but expected to see a few more around by now.

    First Impressions

Just been advised that the A1 has been awarded the What Car - 2011 Car of the Year.

    First Impressions

Had the A1 for about 7 or 8 weeks now. Mainly used by my other members of the family but I have to admit that I am impressed. It's a 1.4TSFI S-line Stronic and apart from the minor niggle on delivery of a rattle from a badly secured fuel pipe it has been great. Unfortunately the weather has been...

    Battery Problem

Thanks for suggestions. No beeping from the boot and no handsfree kit. Will check the headlight switch connector but when you catch it leaking I don't think the rear number plate bulb was on. Many thanks for suggestions. Help much appreciated.

    AARRGHHH - Alarm problem

You unlock the door with the key/fob button which unsets the alarm. Open the door and press the central locking button on the drivers door then close the door remembering not to leave the key inside the car. We activated the central locking button from the passenger side as not sure if the...

    AARRGHHH - Alarm problem

When we stopped and thought about it we realised there is a way to lock the car without activating the alarm... saved parking it outside someone else's house. :) 70 quid for a battery!!! Vor sprung dosh tecknik.

    AARRGHHH - Alarm problem

Would be grateful for any help before the alarm on my lad's A3 (1.8 SE - year 2000) drives us all bonkers as can't get anyone to look at it before Thursday. The alarm keeps sounding although the lights aren't flashing. It stops when unlocked but 10 minutes or so after locking goes off again...

What car have you LEAST enjoyed

Also going back a while but had to drive British Leyland cars for a few years and I can honestly say they were all total rubbish. The Allegro, Princess, Dolomite and Marina (got my feet wet if I drove it in the rain) were all shockers but the worst of the worst was the TR7. Before you ask why I...

New 170 tdi Quattro first impressions....

Well I wish the problems with mine were all so minor. Can't say I have noticed any of the problems mentioned. OK I do find I need to press the unlock button in fairly quick succession to unlock all doors and I don't always get it right, but I sure have a whole lot of other things in...

WOULD YOU PAY £700 FOR 1YR EXTRA AUDI WARRANTY ON YOUR A3

If you've got a coolant prob then either sell it or make sure you have some warranty to cover costs of repair or have warranty to include with sale if you get fed up with it. I would guess my warranty bills in the first 15 months of ownership would now total over 11/12 k and only done 9,000...

    keyfob

I also had a new key recently and the price was £52.48 + Vat for parts £25.00 + Vat for recoding When I arrived for the recoding I was told the price i was quoted was for a radio recoding and the price for a key recoding was higher (didn't say how much) but they honoured it anyway.

Anyone remapped a TDI 170 yet?

Don't know of anyone who has had a remap and I wouldn't recommend one either as there are too many problems still to be sorted out with this power unit. I wouldn't trust anyone's warranty either after the demise of AMD. Having said the above RSD offer an Oettinger remap taking it up to about...

    A3 54 2.0TDI Coolant Leak

As you may have noticed in another post I'm having a whole new engine after only 7000 miles as the block was leaky. Fully covered on warranty but won't be keeping it too long and nor should you.

    HELP!

My car is coming up for a year old has only done 7000 miles and it has been in and out of the garage since the first month for a total of 5 times for the coolant light and had various replacement parts and flush outs. The car has been off the road for the last 2 weeks while they check the...

    2.0 TDi BIG PROBLEMS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I was told it was a 170 but to be honest I don't know and have no way of verifying it. If it is a 140 then I'm amazed cos it is very smooth and feels really quite quick.

    2.0 TDi BIG PROBLEMS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For info the loan vehicle is new with only 400 miles on the clock. It's a lot more refined. Engine much quieter and smoother. Seating much more comfortable. Ride better despite being an S-line. Handling not quite so good IMO. The A4 S line looks smart in black too. Altogether more impressive...
