Don't need to replace the whole door wire harness. There are manufacturers selling replacement kits for the part that generates problem: the wires inside the bellows between the pillar and the door.

Possibly broken or faulty wires in the bellows between the driver's door and the pillar. If this is the problem, you can replace part of the harness with something like this: https://www.autoteile.de/en/product/V10-83-0067. It is a rather simple DIY job. You will need a crimping tool. See here...

It happened to me a few times too. In my case rain water was coming from the engine compartment. It was collected under the battery and entered the cabin through the cabin air filter. The solution is to take out the battery and clean the drain hole located under it.
