Shareware:
- Cannot do Auto-Scan
- Won't display Text for all Fault Codes
- No Basic Settings (so no TBA, Xenon levelling, etc or checking timing on TDI's)
- No Adaptation Saving (so no changing of locking/lights/horn behavior)
- No Output Tests
- No Tech Support from Ross-Tech...
Let's go back to the basics, since everybody is complaining but no one actually posted details thats what I would like you to do now.
#1 Auto-Scan from the car(s) which did not work.
#2 A control module map (adaptation) from the instrument cluster.
#3 What Work has been done? Just Oil...
If there is a problem with the lights you need to fix that before you can adjust them, neither VCDS nor the factory tool will help you to avoid that. Both VCDS and VCDS-Lite should be able to perform the necessary steps for a proper adjustment.
Please update to a current version of VCDS, then post a complete Auto-Scan using either Release 10.6.4 or Beta 11.3.0. As usual updated are free, so there is no excuse for running outdated versions. ;)

Again, there is no login for the stuff you are looking for. Just because the login function is there doesn't mean it is actually used, especially not for random modifications like you are looking for. If a login is necessary VCDS will usually tell you and the proper login will show once you...
Audi never intended the use of HIDs which are technically illegal as you probably know, so they have not included a setting like you want it in the control module software. No login is going to change this.
US Clusters usually lack the ability to have flexible service intervals and some other features, so they are unlikely to be an option. Not sure if it was really necessary to bring this topic back from the dead. ;)
The version of VCDS your are using is no longer supported, the update to the latest version is free and can be obtained from our website. Once you've installed the new version post a fresh Auto-Scan from the vehicle.

VCDS does NOT write anything into the registry at this point, the only thing that adds stuff is the installer/uninstaller. Therefor removing registry entries has no effect at all on how and if the program will run. Also installing an old version does not fix the problem, it is a workaround at...
At the time this topic was created VAG-COM 409 had already reached it's "End of Life" status. It had been replaced by VCDS-lite. After all Bruce is totally correct that in combination with 3rd party hardware neither VAG-COM 409 nor VCDS-lite do support diagnostics via CAN. In fact the entire CAN...
The proper address for that would be Sales@Ross-Tech.com then, but I don't want to make a fuzz here. Thing is that each of us has enough on the plate so it helps us getting things sorted if you use the addresses designed for such inquiries unless told otherwise. Thanks for your understanding. :)
The HID problem would not effect a B6 A4, therefor it can't be the cause. But to be able to answer questions like that one would need to know that the above codes did actually belong to such a car, which the original posted hadn't posted... ;)
In addition we have seen that users of old versions often confuse the Auto-Scan with the Control Module Finder functionality. The first is what really does scan for codes and only scans the modules that it believes are installed in the car chosen by the user. The latter though will indeed run...
