I do not view this particular sub-forum. I do check in to the VCDS forum from time to time. Had it been posted there, I probably would have seen it. This thread was pointed out to me by a member here.
Any can do the same if there is a post for which one is looking to have an answer....
The grammar of our reply could be improved... We'll work on that.
Really? I think I better find out where all that money goes. I should be allowed to have some. Fact is, it costs a lot of money to reverse engineer VAG stuff so that we can help a community of users do with their car...
Likewise. I was so blown away by all the positive and kind comments expressed about VCDS and Ross-Tech. Maybe we will do this again in 2021, the next time the show will be offered. It was a fun and awesome event. My colleagues, Grant and Mike from Gendan, made this event easy to do. Thanks...
You say you replaced sensors. Which sensors have been replaced?
Did you do any troubleshooting of the wiring?
Did you run a VAG diagnostic scan that might give more information?
The fault code leads to an issue with the crank sensor or the crank shaft speed signal. Obviously the signal is...
I am looking forward to chatting with many of you. Our friends at Gendan invited me and Ross-Tech wishes to support their efforts as they promote their services and products such as VCDS. They have been fantastic friends and partners for a lot of years now.
Stop by their stand and let's...
and as a reminder to all who purchase genuine systems, if you register (it's free), you may email support@Ross-Tech.com for help. Why be frustrated? Yes it is the security code that is stopping this. No, I am not giving the security codes here. Register and then contact support@Ross-Tech.com.
No - the genuine dongle style interfaces function only with full VCDS.
If you had full function with your KKL wire, you could register the VCDS-Lite and have it discounted on a later upgrade but we do not sell our interfaces without the software license for VCDS. We no longer sell KKL style...
If you are a registered VCDS user, I suggest contacting support@Ross-Tech.com. I have nothing further to add and our techs would have to help. I am not sure what else to ask. Posting an autoscan might give more information.

When you find someone with the tool, the link above may be of help.
(59 plate does not help me on this side of the big pond... hope I have guessed well for ya!)
The main tell that a system is an illegal copy is as NHN said - it is locked to a particular release of VCDS. In our 15 years of operating this business, we have never locked a customer to a version of our software. The people who bought their very first system back in 2000, still enjoy free...
Lots of US customers are liking the WinBook TW700 7" tablet with full Win 8.1 and a full USB 3.0. Here these have been had for as low as $79 USD - so like £40ish? You'll have search your Island for similar deals but we like them! Fits in the glove box nicely.
Got Audi - never leave home...
To the best of my knowledge, the Instrument cluster does not store information about when a service reset was performed. Therefore, VCDS would not be able to retrieve said information as it is not present in the vehicle.
This video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20x5o0_review-delphi-ds150e-diagnostic-solution-for-cars-and-trucks_auto
shows the overview capabilities of the dephi tool.
Ross-Tech's video:
Hopefully these two videos help give an idea. The Delphi tool claims to do all that the VCDS tool...
It will be similar to this page concerning doing a service reminder reset on a Golf with UDS instruments:
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf/Golf_Plus_(5K/52)_Instrument_Cluster
Basically, with UDS clusters, the one button SRI does not work at this time. We are trying to come up...
As the VCDS Manual says:
If you have specific questions, and you are a licensed registered user in good standing, email Ross-Tech support with any questions.
A dropped session is a communications issue between the PC and the control module. Anti-virus running? Could do it.
Does this happen after the computer has been running a while? Could be USB ports being shut down in low power mode.
Might be more going on.
NHN and dandav1985, VCDS 14.5 is the current Beta with support for the HEX-NET WiFi interface.
I would run the Autoscan on 12.12.2 - the current release of VCDS and see if there is any difference.
If there is a difference, we need to know and need to look into the Beta to see what is up...
