You must have an SE or crap tyres, having driven a 116d msport (old shape) it has the most direct steering of any other car I've experienced, and has no problems in the handling department. Ok its **** slow but one thing it does best is go in the direction that you point it whilst giving you...
No coding necessary, read this: FAQ: RELAYS; how they work and how to wire it up...
Wire a relay behind the headlight switch, take 12v positive from under the fusebox (30), earth from the steering column (85), 12v signal from pin 8 of headlight switch (86), and you have 12v ready to send...

The only info you need is to add a wire from pin 8 of the headlight switch to a relay, and have the 12v output of the relay going to the foglight area to wire into the fog lights.
Ok I have a spare climate controller I tried today and the AC was still not cold, turns out the communication error was just down to the wrong setting in the usb port (the latancy timer is set to 16 you have to change it to 1 and then it works fine).
So I managed to communicate with the 08...
Yes the hook needs to be out towards the rear of the car, and 13mm is the size needed to remove the bolts and a nut which secure the bracket to the chassis.
