That's great, thanks very much! Looks like the right one in the ebay link but the listing has ended.

    Power steering leak, repair options?

If you could measure the diameter of the metal section that would be great, I've no doubt I can get something knocked up locally, it's just I don't have any calipers yet. It seems to be either 12mm or 1/2".

    Power steering leak, repair options?

There are two places that I know of, one local and one near where I'm working currently, that would be able to do it, it's just I'm struggling to get the pipe off to take to them. I was hoping to get all the bits together that I'm going to need then take it to a garage I use regularly who is...

    Power steering leak, repair options?

No, unfortunately not, it's the one that runs from the rack, over the gearbox then bends back and forth a few times before going to the pump, £200+ from Audi.

    Power steering leak, repair options?

Car (S3) has recently developed a power steering leak, typically it's the really expensive one that runs between the pump and rack and folds back on itself a few times, it's corroded through on the metal section. Now I've read that this isn't uncommon and a few people have managed to repair...

    Air con pulley.

The tensioner "should" be fitted right as, if I remember correctly, I haven't had it off and the problems with the belt are fairly recent. The old belt was worn only on the side that sits against the tensioner and the aircon, also wear was not even across the belt, I think the first 4 ribs were...

    Air con pulley.

Is it possible just to change the pulley on the aircon compressor? I've recently changed a belt that was squealing and was heavily worn on the outside, now the new belt is starting to squeal too. I've taken it off and the pulley on the aircon has a small amount of play in it so I'm thinking...

Who lets their Misses drive their A3/S3...?

My Mrs drives it far more then me now. She's a carer and uses it for work whereas I'm a self employed joiner so run around in my little Connect. It's the only car she's ever driven too and while the power did worry me a little I was happier her driving a good solid car like the S3 with...

    Front wheel problem.

Managed to get it jacked up, massive play where the wishbone mounts to the chassis so I think it's fair to say the bush has had it. I'll get it booked in tomorrow and the garage can sort it, just glad it's nothing major.

    Front wheel problem.

Hard to tell at the moment because it lives on the street and there isn't really a good spot to jack it up and have a look. I think that side had a new track rod end and CV boots at last MOT but that was back in the summer. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious, could do without a big bill...

    Front wheel problem.

I've had an intermittent knocking from the front of my S3 for a while now but on the couple of occasions when I've taken it to be looked at it hasn't done it. However, I drove it today (don't drive it much myself anymore) and when you come to a stop on the brakes something odd happens. As you...

No Audi/VW dealers nearby? GSF do it too.

Anyone got a guide to replace the after run pump?

It's just a Bosch pump that is used on all sorts of cars, shows how much of a mark up Audi put on parts.

    What is this??

The one on the right runs round the coolant bottle into the charcoal filter. Mine was knackered at both ends so I swapped it for a bit of rubber, no more petrol pong.

    more power = bent rods

High revs don't bend rods, high torque bends rods. There is no way the TIP has caused this, high mileage, the weakest part of the engine and plain old bad luck did it.

    cambelt snap!!!

Sounds like typical belt symptoms to me. Have you tried turning it over by hand? Whip the charge pipe off and remove the belt cover fully then turn the engine over by hand, you should be able to feel any missing teeth on the belt. I bent 12, all 8 exhaust and the front 4 intake. I got my own...

    cambelt snap!!!

My belt was intact but it has stripped about 6" of teeth of. Try turning it over by hand, if it gets stuck or the belt isn't going round while the crank it's stripped some teeth off.

    Snapped Breather Pipe

Can't remember the part number off the top of my head and Audi were useless at finding it. The part number will be on it though. It's £43 from the dealers too.
