I think these are the OEM belt specs - 06A 145 933 D (1120mm) - should be from a 1.8T without air con.
Not sure about the need for a resistor, can't you get it deleted when mapping? - would be interested in what you do here though.
Are you taking the heat exchanger out too?
Your best best is to try a different year, engine code, or gearbox if available for a tdi and see if that has the details.
Alternatively look at a different quattro model. A 99 APY S3 seems to have the same link issue, but a 4 motion golf has the relevant information in my version.

I'm getting a 16486 code pop up a few times recently and after clearing it will not come back for a couple of weeks or so, usually when just pottering around town. Car doesn't seem to be down on power, even when the code is thrown and I can't find any obvious boost leaks - although it looks to...
The 235s will tramline more than the 225s I assume you had on your old wheels so that might be it. I'd get some 225s on personally though as 235/40/18 is the wrong rolling radius.
Assuming the S4s are OEM and you have adapters I would double check that they are on right and the wheel bolts...
Thats the info I was working from, but someone had told me otherwise.
If it is belt driven I am pretty sure it is what I am after.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for all the replies.
Does this mean it has the same size big end journals as other FSI engines then?
Or alternatively, does anyone know the size of the big end journals on a CDL crank?
Hi I need some assistance regarding the S3 engine.
Has the S3 changed from an FSI to TSI engine, and if so when and which engine codes are which?
Thanks
The OEM cooler is easy enough to remove. You can even get a shortened OEM union [059 115 721] to screw the stat plate onto since it is thinner than the OEM exchange. The coolant pipes that feed it appear to be in their own loop and I would therefore assume easily plugged (not got this far yet...
Just succeeded - it was the bolt Prawn suggested. I didn't need to remove the bevel box in the end though. Once I had removed the last bolt they just slid apart. Thanks for all the help.
Soft hammer was applied with some vigor (and cursing) so I think Prawn has the answer - The only bolt I removed in the block to box direction was a little one in the plate so I must have missed the one that attaches the two together.
Thanks
I am trying to split my gearbox from the engine block but they don't seem to want to separate. I assume I must have missed a bolt, but I can't seem to find it. It is an APY S3 and the engine and box are out of the car.
I have removed :
2 starter motor bolts (and the starter)
3 sump bolts...
