it was BMW's that were getting keys cloned within seconds by plugging a tool into the diagnostic socket. They have push button start so no need for an ignition key blade.
To drive off a car that has a physical ignition barrel your either going to have a blade cut for the ignition or be able to...
The SKC came on a plastic tag along with key code from factory. Most have been lost or thrown away.
There's plenty of people that do keys cheaper than Audi & they will come to you. Won't matter to them if you don't have the SKC because they'll have equipment to read it from clocks or ECU
no worries. I've seen too many people with newer models such as the B7 that use the precode system trying to code new keys just with VCDS & after several failed attempts have ended up causing all sorts of fault codes which has ended up in their original key not working neither so the car won't run
don't just start buying things because someone says that's what cured there's. There's a few different reasons that you're having this problem. Such as the transponder chip in the key could be damaged which in my experience is the most common fault, which I can say with keys i'll have a lot more...
if you have a B6 you can code a new key yourself with VCDS if you have the pin code. It's totally different though with the B7. Immo transponder chips for newer VAG such as B7 A4, 8P A3 etc use a different system where the transponder needs to be precoded with data specific to each individual...
unfortunately my Mrs will be enjoying it more than me as it's going to be her daily when i'm out in my van. It does have the odd mark here & there but nothing major. Still think it was a bargain. The only 1 in the same spec & year I found was £1000 more & that said "mileage discrepancy" in the...
Thanks for the feedback guys but I........erm........ bought a BMW! Spotted a 2007 330d Touring at a very good price. Mikes are higher than I wanted but compared to similar cars with nearly same mileage & spec it cheap so had to ho have a look! I did a full diagnostic as I have BMW software & it...
without testing the key you can't guarantee it just needs programming. The transponder chip in the key may have been damaged so no matter how many times someone tries to code it to the car it isn't going to work
will do, not in a major rush. I've got the cash & don't need to sell our other car first so can take my time. Only been to actually look at 1 motor so far & as soon as i opened the drivers door i immediately shut it as it stunk of cigs! Was a 2008 320d Touring. Also been browsing 330d M Sport...
will definitely be going for manual! i'm just old school that way & prefer a clutch & gearstick! driven all sorts of tipt motors & just don't enjoy the feel!
Also the only time i'v ever owned a tipt car the first time my Mrs drove it she nearly put us through the windscreen when she went for...
thanks for the input guys! i'm still undecided about petrol or diesel! diesels do seem to hold their money a bit better as well! got to the point where i'm doing my own head in looking on the autotrader every night!
Thanks. We live a bit out in the sticks so most of it is driving between the surrounding villages our friends & family are spread over. She doesn't drive that often in city/town traffic. When she does go into town shopping she usually goes once traffic has died down
Not sure if you misread the mileage part but as I said above she doesn't do hardly any miles. I bet it's no more than 100 per week if averaged out so to me it seems pointless getting a diesel as I've been repeatedly told they not good for just doing short runs all the time. DPF etc clogging up...
